This is why 95% of the valve bodies that come through the shop undergo flat sanding/resurfacing. After numerous heat cycles and, in some cases, less-than-optimal surface quality from the manufacturer, I have observed significant improvements on the hydraulic test bed following resurfacing. In addition to oversized valves, we can sometimes achieve better results than a brand new OEM unit.

Happy to say both the Ford 10r60/80/140 and the AisinWarner TR80/0c8 line up beautifully with the sample valvebodies I have!
Next challenge is to modify and customise the test scripts to achieve a base line that is consistent and measurable.
Let me know if you are seeing these transmissions in your shops and if anyone has any specific concerns about these units.
