When you're in a car accident, every part of your body is at risk.

If you are picked up by an ambulance after a car accident, the paramedics and doctors work hard to find out what injuries you have. From external damage like broken arms or legs, to internal bleeding or brain damage, the medical team work to find and treat your injuries.

Do you know what the MAIB does in Tasmania?

We directly support any Tasmanian involved in a crash on our roads. That ranges from short hospital visits to life long care.

To reduce the number of crashes on our roads, we also work with road safety initiatives. In a perfect world, the MAIB would not have any clients, and that is something we strive for.

During Road Safety Week, we hosted a pledge signing event at Hobart City High School

Year 10 students from the school heard from MAIB CEO Paul Kingston, Dr Jenny Jamieson from the Royal Hobart Hospital, Richard Jones from Paraquad Tasmania and Vanessa Castle and Kelly Cordwell from Tasmania Police. Each speaker discussed the importance of road safety and how young people can avoid serious and fatal car crashes.

At the end of the event, speakers and students collectively signed the Road Safety Pledge to keep themselves and others safe on the road.

We recently sponsored and presented at The Dark Side of Rehab, a symposium discussing the difficult path people navigate as they recover through rehabilitation. Throughout the symposium we heard amazing presentations from experts in rehabilitation, safe work practices, mental health providers and technology.

Rehab providers are an integral role in recovery, and it was great to connect with providers, share and learn together.
