Docking tip: secure your pivot point..
This is one of the key things we teach during on-water training. When docking a houseboat, the goal is not perfection. Itâs patience, teamwork, and one clear step at a time.
The first job is to get one line safely secured. Most of the time, we start with the bow. Once that line is attached to the dock cleat, it becomes the pivot point.
From there, the captain turns the wheel toward the wall & gently puts the motors in reverse, which brings the stern in. Final adjustments can be made once you are connected to the dock.
Teamwork and communication go a long way when docking a boat. đ
Itâs important that everyone knows their job, pays attention to whatâs happening around them, and is ready to adjust if things donât go exactly according to plan. Because boating is definitely not a copy-and-paste activity.
We always encourage calm over chaos.
One clear step at a time.
