For damned near 70 years, this pin has done its job. It connected the brake pedal linkage with the master cylinder and, through its grease fitting that still works, greased the pivot up so you’d have a nice smooth motion to the brake pedal.
Sometime in 1956 or 1957, in Oshawa, Ontario, a worker at the GM assembly plant put this pin in and today it got relieved of its duties for the time being.
Due to circumstances beyond its control, the master cylinder is failing and needs replacing. It has done its job where significantly more complex, and expensive, parts have not.
Rest easy, sweet pin. You’ve earned it.
