Today, on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, ATMIS is proud to announce the establishment of the ATMIS Indigenous STEM Award at Lakehead University.
This award represents something deeply important to our company and our leadership.
ATMIS CEO Andy Valentine and COO Andrew Glover are both Lakehead Engineering alumni. Lakehead University and the community surrounding it played an important role in shaping their education, careers, and the company ATMIS has become today.
The ATMIS Indigenous STEM Award will help support up to two full-time Indigenous students each year pursuing STEM — Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
For ATMIS, this is about more than establishing an award. It is the beginning of what we hope will be a long relationship with Lakehead University and an opportunity to give back to a university and community that helped shape us.
As ATMIS continues to grow across Canada's nuclear, defence, space and advanced manufacturing industries, we believe part of that growth should include creating pathways for the next generation of Indigenous scientists, engineers, technologists, entrepreneurs and industry leaders.
On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we recognize that reconciliation requires more than words. It requires lasting relationships, opportunity, education and action.
We are proud to make this commitment and even more excited to see what the next generation will accomplish.
