Let's wrap up the last details to get KITT ready for inspection. Watch parts 1 - 3 to discover the rest.

Because my KITT was originally homologated with quieter than stock muffler and end pipes, these ugly looking pipes are the only one allowed to pass inspection. Watch parts 1, 2 and 4 to discover the rest.

My KITT usually has the front marker lights set up.as marker lights only, not combined with blinkers as intended from factory. Legally, they are only allowed to be blinkers. Watch parts 1, 3 - 4 to discover the rest.

My KITT has to have a scanner light bar. It's part of his identity, but it's not quite street legal. Watch parts 2 - 4 to discover the rest.

Today was Porsche day. I've been helping out my brother in-law sorting out several issues on his wife's 2002 986 Boxster S. He got it for a steal, but soon figured out the gift was poisoned. It's not a bad car, but it's been showing one problem after the other.
It's a pretty good project car, but that's not what he needs it to be. It needs to run flawlessly and I'm confident we're gonna get there very soon.

We changed the coolant temperature sensor, then tried to replace crank position sensor but failed due to access blocked by coolant hoses (we'll tackle that soon), then changed the rear discs and pads, but soon realized we got the wrong pads, so had to reinstall the old pads for the time being.

To make matters worse the ignition key wouldn't come out as soon as we parked the car in my garage and stayed on accessory all day. Hooked up the CTEK charger for the day. When we were 'finished', my brother in-law drove the car home and he then managed to release the key from the ignition. I went over and sprayed the ignition cylinder with silicone oil. I hope this fixed it... to be continued...

Yesterday was another great car show day at the biennial Arbon Classics ( ) event where cars, motorcycles, trucks, tractors and steam engines with a minimum age of 30 years gather and take people's breath away.

My KITT together with a friend's one were there to entertain the crowd with music, catchphrase, running scanners and blinking dashboards. May I say they stole the show? At least they crowd kept gathering around them all they long.

We had the perfect spot close to the lake shore. KITT's accessory battery with the scanner and the dash on nearly nonstop lasted the whole week were there (6 hours!) and was still running strongly as we left.

Many thanks to everyone showing up, showing interest, as well as for the great chats. We'll be back!

Sometimes you need to appreciate the little wins. I just discovered a small power steering fluid leak due to an old hose. Turns out a leftover piece of a new hose I had in stock was exactly the same length as the old one. Quick swap, fluid top up and test run and I was done.
The most important thing is that KITT is happy and ready to hit the road and bust some crime, again.

And here's how I installed a new window motor on a customer's KITT. It's pretty straight forward once you get a flashlight and look behind the metal of the door to spot the location of the rivets that hold the window motor onto the bracket. These rivets need to be drilled out. The holes in the door metal need to be bigger than the screw head to pass them threw with a screw driver. The replacement motor from ACDelco comes with a set of nuts and bolts.
