Track day prep is officially underway, and we are tackling one of the most notorious jobs on the Smart 3-cylinder twin-spark engine: upgrading to massive 10mm Formula Power Race Performance ignition leads! 🏎️⚡

Because engine packaging is incredibly tight on these cars, changing all 6 plugs and wires is an absolute mission. In Episode #8 of the restoration series, I walk you through the entire process step-by-step:
✅ How to remove the tricky bottom leads (and what tools to use)
✅ Complete removal of the Intake Manifold & Throttle Body to access the upper coil packs
✅ Exact factory torque specs so you do it right the first time!

I spent hours replacing the battery cables, ground cables, coils, and plugs, but the engine still wouldn't turn over properly. It turns out the alternator was the real culprit! I found a way to free it up using a 24mm spanner and some chain l**e without having to drop the whole engine.
