Cracked intercooler pipes are one of the most common reasons a Smart Fortwo or Roadster loses power — and most owners don't even know it. 🔧
On these cars there are two pipes connecting the intercooler to the rest of the system — one from the turbo to the intercooler, and one from the intercooler to the throttle body. After 20 years the rubber cracks, hardens and splits. Boost escapes before it ever reaches the engine.
In Smart Racer latest video (LINK IN COMMENTS) I show you the full removal process on both the Fortwo 450 and Roadster 452 — whether you're chasing a boost leak, accessing the crankshaft position sensor, doing an inspection, or upgrading to silicone pipes.
Is your Smart losing power or making a hissing sound under boost? This might be why. 👇
