Many congratulations to Isla for an excellent pass at Galashiels this morning, joining her friends Holly and Imogen who also passed in the last week.

A fabulous trio of drivers.

Massive credit, along with Isla, must go to Grandad who did a marvellous job with Isla getting lots of practise in before ( and during) she started lessons, allowing her to fly through the process.

Mum and Dad also helped out massively as well so a great family success.

Isla was great on every lesson and was a joy to teach producing regular high quality driving.

It was so well deserved and I am absolutely delighted for her.

Enjoy the freedom and I look forward to seeing Fergus on the road!

Many congratulations to Imogen for a brilliant drive and a first time pass in Duns this morning .

Imogen took her test in her own car today, as Floyd was in the garage ( not timed because he thought he gets to dirty at Duns 🤣).

Imogen has covered a lot on her lessons including driving to Glasgow on the bypass and motorway with another pupil, parking in a multi storey and driving in various towns. Shes definitely ready for driving independently with confidence now.

I've known Imogen all her life and she lives just a few doors from me, so this pass is extra special. She has been a fabulous pupil from day one, as I knew she would be. I'm so proud of her and the fantastic young lady she has become. She was great on every lesson and will be missed.

Well done to Mum and Dad for all the extra practise as well. A great team effort.

Remember and make sure big Murph gets plenty room in the back of the Polo as he told me he gets squashed in the boot🐶🤣.

Well done again and I am absolutely delighted for you. It was so well deserved.

Many congratulations to Holly for a brilliant, almost perfect, first time pass at Galashiels today.

She's followed in her sister's footsteps, who also passed first time. Say goodbye to your car Emily 🤣.

Holly was a fabulous pupil since day 1. I've know her since she was at nursery and its great to see what a fantastic, talented young lady she has become. Enjoyed her tunes on the lessons as well 🎶!

A huge thank you to Mum and Dad for all the extra practice and support along the way. Payback time is now with you and Holly can act as a personal chauffeur for you both.

It was so well deserved and I am absolutely delighted for her.

Enjoy the freedom and well done again.

A huge well done to Craig for an excellent pass today at Kelso

Craig initially started his driving journey when he was 17, but moving to the city meant he never completed the process. He started again last year and progressed brilliantly. Having been test ready for a while, he waited patiently for a Kelso test and was briefly even lost in the DVSA system without a date before one was allocated.

Having been at test level for a while Craig did lots of practise in his own car with family and friends. He chose to take his test in the car he’s been practicing in and all that extra practice and hard work has paid off . The co drivers have all been a big part of his success. They'll now be forming an orderly queue at the Dipper for suitable recompense 🍺🤣.

This is a genuinely life changing day for him, with the ability now to take his two girls to school and on day trips without relying on a barely existent bus service.

It was an absolute pleasure working with you, Craig, and I am delighted for you.

Enjoy the freedom of the open roads.

🚗 Looking to start driving when you turn 17?

With driving test waiting times currently around 24 weeks, preparing early can make a big difference.

✅ Apply for your provisional licence early
You can apply for your provisional driving licence from 15 years and 9 months.

📚 Once in possession of your provisional licence you can book your theory for any date after you turn 17, including your birthday! Use the time beforehand to familiarise yourself with the Highway Code, road signs and theory test questions so you're ready to go. This will also help you understand road signs etc when you start driving.

📝 Pass your theory test and look to book your practical test. You cannot book your practical driving test until you've passed your theory test.

Practical driving tests are released at 6am on Mondays, up to 24 weeks in advance. With demand currently very high, many appointments can be taken within the first hour. Current test dates are unfortunately well into April 2027.

⚠️ Important: practical driving tests must be booked by the pupil themselves.

So, if you're planning to start driving at 17, don't leave everything until your 17th birthday. Getting your provisional licence sorted early and preparing for your theory can put you in the best possible position.

🚘 A little preparation now could save you weeks of waiting later.

Many congratulations to Ella on an excellent first time pass at Galashiels today.

Ella decided she wanted to learn to drive and completed her theory test before even starting her lessons. She chose the automatic route and absolutely excelled.

She was very dedicated throughout her lessons and always worked hard, keen to learn and enjoy the whole driving process. No hill starts, no stalls.... what’s not to enjoy!

Despite the dreadful weather today, she produced an excellent drive and thoroughly deserved her pass.

A big well done to her partner, Julian, for putting in the extra practice over the past month. A great help and much appreciated.

It’s been a busy week for tests and Ella rounded off the hat trick in style. Rhona the Kona’s second pass of the week.

Enjoy the freedom that your licence gives you, Ella. I look forward to seeing you out on the road.

I’m absolutely delighted for you. Well done again.

Many congratulations to Aaron on an excellent first time pass at Galashiels today.

An almost perfect drive, well done.

Aaron has worked hard for this pass and has patiently waited for his test date to come around. He has used the extra time really well, and Mum and Dad have been a huge help with all the extra practice. A great team effort.

The freedom of the roads is now yours, Aaron, so enjoy it, it was thoroughly deserved.

Good luck for the rest of the rugby season, although I can't say I'll be sending the same good wishes to your football team!

All the best, and well done again. I’m absolutely delighted for you.

Many congratulations to Ben on an excellent first time pass at Galashiels this morning.

Ben had lessons several years ago but never quite managed to get round to sitting his test. He returned this year, with his theory already completed, determined to finally get his licence and today he did it. We can't say you rushed the process as you were almost at the stage of having to renew your provisional licence🤣.

I’ve known Ben for a long time and many years ago, he approached me about helping out with coaching at Lauder Football Club. After his first session, it was clear he had a huge talent for coaching and he took over coaching the 2007 players pretty much straight away.

He spent countless hours fully committed to helping each player improve and was fantastic at it. It’s great to see that this was such a good stepping stone for him, and he is now excelling as a coach working with the youngsters at Dunfermline FC.

Well done to Dad as well for all the extra practice over the last few weeks. Your years as chauffeur are over. Payback time awaits!

Enjoy the car shopping, Ben, and it’s been an absolute pleasure helping you achieve this.

I’m absolutely delighted for you.

Well done.🚗👏

Many congratulations to Magnus on a fabulous first time, zero fault drive at Galashiels today.

A brilliant achievement and thoroughly deserved. Magnus follows in the footsteps of his big sister Ava, who also had an excellent first time pass a couple of years ago.

Magnus has had to wait longer than we would have liked for his test due to the current test situation, but all that extra practice certainly paid off today.

A dedicated pupil who worked hard throughout his lessons and thoroughly deserved this excellent pass.

Another one of the Melrose rugby players through. They certainly make good drivers, these lads. 💪🏉

A huge well done to Mum for all the extra practice at home. I believe Dad may have helped out a small bit as well, just so he could join in the glory! 🤣 A great family effort.

Magnus has covered a lot during his lessons, including the City Bypass and M8 motorway, as well as sharing the drive with another pupil and friend. This gave him some great post test experience of carrying passengers and understanding the increased responsibility and risk that comes with it.

Magnus is also the only pupil ever to beat me at the spot the pheasant game on the back road from Lauder to Gala. However, I won't mention who won 2–0 today on that same road.....

A big thanks to Bryan from TWB Driver Training for carrying out a mock test with Magnus last week. It was a huge help in getting him fully prepared for today.

Well done Magnus, enjoy the freedom and good luck for the rest of the rugby season.

I am absolutely delighted for you.

I look forward to seeing you on the roads.

Many congratulations to Chloe on an excellent pass at Galashiels today.

An almost perfect drive as well🌟.

A brilliant pupil who always wanted to learn and worked hard every lesson.

A big thank you to Dad for all the extra practice and to Mum and Mike for the support along the way.

Chloe is lucky to have a pack of 3 dog brothers, Bruce, Glen and Hamish. These chancers told me they dont get fed so I had to being them treats every lesson🤣🐕🐕🐕.

Congratulations again on a fantastic result and all the very best for the future. I am absolutely delighted for you and it was so well deserved.
