Did you know that the greatest single failure of the stock Ford ranger turbocharger is the lack of lubrication and the fact that the thrust bearing only support a little over half the full diameter!. The stock turbo on the Ranger runs between 19psi and 20psi but boost progressively drops by the time it hits 2950 rpm the turbo is making as little as 10psi. And feels as if you have hit a wall. the stock turbo on a px2 is very over driven . luckily we offer a complete redesign of the internals to reduce thrust bearing failure and greatly improve performance even on lower boost then stock

FORD RANGER ECU REMAPPING

The new Ranger was planned and built to be the pack leader and now offers more payload and towing power than ever before, and at the same time is fitted with an all-new 2.2 liter and 3.2 liter turbodiesel class-leading engine. This means that there is more power and torque for the 2.2 & 3.2 liter Ford Ranger.

The 2.2 liter four-cylinder turbodiesel has a generous 110 kW of power at 3700 rpm and 375 Nm of torque available between 1500 and 2500 rpm and the 3.2 turbodiesel five-cylinder has a huge 470 Nm available from 1 500 to 2 750 rpm along with 147 kW of power. However-sometimes this power is not enough for some forms of work and play, which is why we offer Ford Ranger Remapping for additional power and torque!

WHAT IS ECU REMAPPING/PROGRAMMING?
When a manufacturer develops a new car they have to take into consideration all of the conditions it may be subjected to in all of the regions in which they intend to sell this model. This means instead of just optimising the ECU’s program or ‘map’ to deliver the best performance or the most fuel efficiency they have to make compromises to the map to take into account these potential differing operating conditions. These could include sub-standard fuels, extremes in temperature and altitude, differing emission laws and even the possibility that vehicle may not be serviced on a regular basis and in accordance with the manufacturers recommended instructions.

ECU remapping is taking a read from the ECU’s processing chip of the vehicles standard compromised map and adjusting various parameters within the map such as fuel pressure, boost pressure (on turbocharged applications) ignition advance and throttle pedal control amongst others to release the true performance from the engine. It is a completely safe process as it is just giving the engine the performance it should have had in the first place before all the compromises were applied to the original programming.

BENEFITS OF ECU REMAPPING/PROGRAMMING
ECU programming will not only improve the engines power and torque figures, it will also sharpen the throttle response and widen the power-band. This will make the power delivery a lot more linear, which in turn will make the vehicle feel livelier to drive and the engine more flexible. Frequently, the vehicle’s power output is restricted by the manufacturer for no other reason than to ensure that it fits into a class to suit fleet buyers. As a driving enthusiast, you do not need or want such restrictions placed upon your vehicle’s ECU, so with a conversion you can benefit from the hidden power and torque locked away within your engine management system.

The other main benefit of remapping will be a reduction in fuel consumption. With the extra torque - especially at the bottom of the rev range - you will see a fuel saving as it will require less throttle input to maintain motorway speeds; you can drive in a higher gear at a slower speed; and the additional power is especially useful when fully laden, towing, or on gradients.

Since the mid-1980s, most engines have been controlled by an on-board computer, the engine control unit (ECU). It controls the ignition timing, fuelling, boost pressure and many other functions for all given engine speeds and loads.
After extensive development and testing, optimum settings have been developed for your make and model of vehicle. We ensure that each remap is as individual as the software inside your ECU, safely eliminating those ‘performance compromises’. The new remap is based on the original programme in your vehicle.
