Driver development is just as important as car development. 🏁

Our GR Yaris student has completed Level 1 and is now progressing through Level 2 training under Coach Don Pastor of Raceform Academy, together with MEK Automotive.

The car is already a serious package — equipped with an X Shift sequential transmission, MoTeC M150 ECU, MoTeC C127 display, full HKS bolt-ons, while still retaining the stock turbo.

At this stage, the goal isn’t simply to add more power. The owner wants to enjoy the car, understand its capabilities, and learn how to maximize the setup safely and properly on track.

Every session has a purpose.

After every run, we review and analyze the data together — telemetry, driver inputs, lap times, tire pressures, track temperature, vehicle behavior and consistency. Coach Don works with the driver on technique and progression, while we at MEK Automotive use the data and driver feedback to understand what the car needs for the next session.

This allows us to develop the driver and the car together.

As the driver improves, we can make calculated changes to the setup based on actual data instead of simply adding more horsepower.

For us at MEK Automotive, building a capable car is only the beginning. Seeing the owner learn how to properly use, understand and enjoy everything we built into it is what completes the process.

A FULL WEEKEND OF RACING AT CLARK INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY. 🏁

Last weekend was a busy one for MEK Automotive — three cars competing across Time Attack and multiple Grid Racing events, with conditions changing constantly throughout both days.

We had the BKC Racing Team GR Supra with Boodgie Chua coming all the way from Bacolod, the DC5 Tire Trading GR Yaris driven by Arnel Carlos, and our own MEK Automotive Honda Jazz GK driven by John Apolintisima.

Saturday gave us a mix of Track Attack and ETCC x JTCC Grid Racing, while Sunday brought another full day with the GR Yaris Grid Races and BGRC.

The weather made the weekend even more challenging. Conditions were unpredictable on both days — from dry running to heavy rain and fully wet races.

The GR Yaris’ first race on Sunday started dry before heavy rain came down midway through the race, forcing the driver and team to adapt while already under race conditions. The Supra also faced a wet BGRC race later in the day.

Despite everything the weekend threw at us, all three cars came home with podium finishes.
