The project is mainly supported by the donations from the «Ragnar Care Foundation» and Lars Henriksen. Most of the books have been donated by «Tai Wisdom», but they are no longer involved directly in
the project. We are extremely grateful for all the help we have gotten through the years and we are still in great need of this help. Without regular donations this project will quickly come to a halt, any contribution given helps to secure the future of «Little Hands Art & Reading». Any small or large amount, regularly or just once, helps us. All donations will go directly into the projects own account, as we have no expenses on administration. Our main expenses are salaries to our teachers, maintenance of the car needed to get the teachers from school to school, painting and drawing utensils and other things directly connected to our project.

Volunteering

As a volunteer, your main tasks will be to follow the teachers to the schools and libraries and give the children possibilities to learn more language, to see people from different cultures and inspire the joy of learning. No previous experience or knowledge is needed, but if you in addition have special knowledge, ideas or experience that you can use to enhance the project, we are happy to hear your thoughts. The work itself is not physically demanding, but mentally challenging. You will be working with some of the poorer children of the district and the cultural barriers can be difficult to overcome. That being said, being a volunteer will give you an experience you will never forget and in the end you might realise that children are children, independent of culture or creed. The happiness you bring by your mere presence will return your efforts. You have to be above 18 years of age and spend a minimum of one month. This is volunteer work, so no salary will be given and we can not afford to pay your expenses, like travel, accommodation and food. We will of course help you to find a good place to stay, show you around the area and you will get a lift with the teachers to the various locations. We also have to mention that the living costs in Thailand are very low, so it is doable even with a minimum budget.

Administration

The project has created three jobs with higher than average working conditions, in addition to what the children gain from the project. The administration is run purely by volunteer work, which means that all support goes directly to where the money is needed: Salaries for the teachers and materials for the children. But still we are in great need of continuous support and donations. A monthly report is submitted by the teachers to Lars Henriksen describing which schools have been visited and how many children have attended. In addition, photos are taken from each session. A selection of these photos will be published here on Facebook. To ensure that all the money is used for its purposes the account is revised by an independent accountant every three months as well as a yearly revision.
