One of my favorite memories from 1997 was playing with MxPx and Official IG of (stavesacre) at Jannus Landing in St. Petersburg, FL. It was a huge show, especially for Digger, and one I’ll never forget.

The guys in MxPx - Mike, Tom, and Yuri were some of the nicest, most genuine people we met on the road. We traded vinyl and shirts at the merch tables, then spent the next few weeks in the van listening to Life in General on CD.

Weston will always hold a special place in my heart. I was just 15 when I joined the band and still needed rides to and from practice. Our European tours always landed in November-December for some odd reason, and they were always a cold long journey each time we went. You love it, you hate it. It’s such a rollercoaster because everything is out of your normal element, but still a brand a new adventure and drunken fun.

Looking back I can honestly say I was homesick each Euro tour and the slightest reminder of home, like McDonalds, was comforting at times. If your band survives a winter tour in Europe without some major disfunction or breakup, you’re doing ok.

We made some amazing friendships, played with killer bands, and ate delicious food. A huge thank you to Frank Hesshaus who believed in us each tour and kept us coming back. I still crave döner kababs from the little place near his flat.
