Most people would look at this old tool and see a worn out micrometer set.

I see my family.

This old Lufkin inside micrometer set belonged to my grandfather, Douglas Erford Sager, back in the 1940s. It was later passed down to my father, Douglas William Sager, and eventually made its way to me.

As I opened the box and saw the name engraved inside, I couldn’t help but stop and think about all the years, all the hard work, and all the stories this tool has seen.

I still have my dad’s old tow truck, and now holding one of my grandpa’s tools in my hands reminds me that mechanics have been in my blood long before I ever turned my first wrench.

Long before Sager & Sons Automotive.

Long before the shop.

Long before me.

There were men in my family who worked with their hands, fixed things that were broken, and took pride in doing the job right.

Sometimes an old tool is more than an old tool.

Sometimes it’s a reminder of where you came from.

Today I’m grateful for the legacy left behind by my grandfather, Douglas Erford Sager, my grandmother, Betty Elizabeth McCracken Doolin Sager, and my dad, Douglas William Sager. Sr

The shop may have my name on the building, but the foundation was laid generations ago.

❤️🔧 WELCOME HOME, AUSTIN. 🔧❤️

Today is a special day for our family and for Sager & Sons Automotive.

Many of you know that this business has always been about more than fixing cars. It’s about family, hard work, and building something that lasts long after we’re gone.

That’s why we’re incredibly excited to welcome Austin Sager back to the shop.

Austin isn’t just another employee. He’s my oldest son. He’s part of the foundation of this business and part of the legacy we’re building together.

Over the years, life has taken all of us down different roads, but there’s something special about seeing your children come back and choose to be part of what you’ve worked so hard to create.

The truth is, we needed him.

Not just because he’s a talented technician and a hard worker, but because family businesses are built on family. Every person here plays a role in our success, and having Austin back beside us means more than words can express.

When I look around the shop today and see Alec, Gage, Elliott, Austin, Katie, Alaina, and the rest of our team, I don’t just see employees.

I see the future.

I see the next generation learning the trade, serving our community, and carrying forward the values that Sager & Sons Automotive was built on:
