Often we are asked, which do we recommend. Here is a list of the pro's and con's of a fifth wheel vs travel trailer.

Fifth Wheel Pros
•Roomier floorplans, more space for larger families
•Better maneuverability backing in
•Split bedrooms with doors
•Options for second bathrooms and king-sized bed
•More space and privacy in master bedroom
•Generally taller so more headspace for taller people
•Greater stability and smoother towing
•Easier to hook up
•More storage
•Overall length is shorter than a trailer of same size because the fifth wheel overlaps the truck bed

Travel trailer pros-
•Affordability, generally cheaper
•Can tow without a truck
•Accessibility, less height restrictions
•Easier for boondocking/dry camping
•Can use back of truck like a garage

Fifth Wheel cons-
•Generally heavier: Harder for boondocking
•Generally longer: Some campgrounds have limited spots for RVs longer than 30 feet
•Taller: Height doesn’t always fit into camping spots with overhanging trees
•Typically more slides: More can go wrong
•Generally more expensive

Travel Trailer Cons-
•Larger trailers tend to sway more down on unpaved roads
•Generally smaller
•Less storage
•Lower ceilings
