Look at those knuckleheads!!!! 🤪

What a fun project it has been to bring this ol '46 Harley Knucklehead back to life and running again!
Fun little fact: this is the exact same bike John Teller had in Sons of Anarchy (minus the color)

If you are installing a set of Legends Shocks, make certain you DO NOT use the large flat washers!
Using them locks up the shock, completely blocking the required rotational movement. Not only will this cause your shocks to fail, but it will also void your lifetime warranty.
If you’ve ever seen someone online complaining about these shocks failing prematurely, it is almost certainly due to this exact installation error.
Do it right the first time so you can ride smooth and keep your warranty intact!

This customer came in reporting that he was losing oil, but there were no visible oil leaks anywhere on the bike.

Time to break out the borescope! What we found was excessive oil seepage around the exhaust valve in the front cylinder head.

This is exactly why having the RIGHT TOOLS matters! The right diagnostic equipment helps us pinpoint problems quickly, accurately, and efficiently—without wasting time guessing.

At Mean Machine Cycles, we don't just throw parts at a problem. We find the issue and get to the bottom of it!

TWIN CAM PERFORMANCE UPGRADE COMPLETE!

This one got a bit more than just a cam swap. We took this Twin Cam from a 103” to a 107”. the cylinders were bored out and pistons replaced with a set of CP-Carrillo domed pistons to increase the compression. After adding the Woods 555 cams and a Powervision dynotune, this bike now makes 104 horsepower and 124 ft-lbs of torque! Pretty good numbers for a twin cam!!!

Looking to wake up your Harley and get some serious performance out of that V-Twin? We’ve got you covered!

Mean Machine Cycles is your go-to shop for Harley maintenance, performance & audio upgrades! Give us a call and let's get your bike making some power!

That looks a little dramatic, doesn’t it?! 😂

Your speed sensor is highly magnetic, which means it will attract metal shavings and debris over time. And when enough buildup collects on the sensor, it can cause some frustrating issues.

If you’re experiencing any of these problems, pull the speed sensor and give it a good cleaning. You might be surprised by how much debris is stuck to it — and cleaning it may be all it takes to solve the problem!

🚨 Symptoms to watch for:
• Speedometer drops to zero while riding or fluctuates wildly
• Turn signals fail to auto-cancel
• Bike stalls or idles roughly when coming to a stop
• Cruise control cuts out or refuses to engage

Before you start throwing parts at the problem, check the simple stuff first!

We’ve been keeping the shop busy with several cam installs lately, and this M8 114 is getting a Wood Performance WM8-22XE cam!

The 22XE has proven to be an excellent choice for the M8 114, delivering the kind of power these bikes love — big torque down low and strong power through the midrange.
That means hard-hitting acceleration, great street manners, and power right where you want it!

Looking to wake up your M8? For under $3k, you can add 30% more power to your motor. There is no other performance upgrade that will give you more bang for the buck. Give us a call at 515-367-7336

Wheel bearings have left the building!!!

Every time we change your tires, our team checks your wheel bearings for that "gritty" rotation and side-to-side play. But here is the scary truth: hand-checking isn’t always a catch-all.
Wheel bearings can fail without warning and should be replaced every 20,000 miles. Waiting until they start making noise or locking up is a massive gamble. A complete wheel bearing failure doesn't just destroy other expensive components like your hub, axle, or brakes—it can easily result in a catastrophic wreck.

Don't push your luck on two wheels (or four). If you can't remember the last time your bearings were replaced, it's time to get them looked at.

Sportsters need love too!

We are bumping up the horsepower in this Sportster 1200 with a killer upgrade package:
Andrews N2 cams for that horsepower and torque
Vance & Hines Mini Grenades exhaust for the ultimate bark
Arlen Ness high-flow air cleaner to let it breathe

After its dialed in with a Powervision dynotune, this little bike is going to absolute RIP!!!
