You've seen the PRObuilt Beam. You've seen the ECObuilt Beam. Now meet the OGbuilt Beam — it functions just like its predecessors, without the cleanup and finish you're used to. And these photos hide nothing. Weld spatter, bearing wear, dings and dents — we shot it all. That's the point.
THE BEAM 🔧
Zero cleanup — that part is up to you. You'll see weld spatter. You'll see welds that are normally contoured, left untouched. You'll see scratches in the steel. All cosmetic. It still runs Delrin bushings — the best in the industry. It still has 7.5" of adjustment. It still functions exactly like a PRObuilt or ECObuilt Beam.
THE TORSIONS
Rebuilt, not new. Checked for cracks and breaks, then re-dimpled for proper engagement.
THE CONTROL ARMS
Quality controlled for straightness, shock studs checked for trueness and perfect threads. The bearing surfaces WILL show wear — and it doesn't matter. Our Delrin bushings index the ENTIRE arm, not just the narrow band where the factory bearings rode for decades. As long as the arm articulates to the same standard as our PRObuilt and ECObuilt counterparts, it has decades of use left without compromise. You'll see dents and dings on the arms. Cosmetic. The function is 100%.
THE SPINDLES
Installed exactly like our PRObuilt and ECObuilt beams — however, we utilize quality controlled original Volkswagen king pins & link pins with new bushings that are reamed to size. Checked for straightness, bearing surfaces verified with German bearings and seals, threads chased and checked. There will be dents and dings. Form and function work like OEM.
THE SHOCKS
The same sport shocks we run on ECObuilt and PRObuilt. They let the beam adjust all the way up and all the way down without disrupting travel. The perfect shock for the application — no downgrade.
OGbuilt Steering (optional — or reuse your factory setup)
Same premium tie rod ends and steering damper. The steering box clamp and pitman arm function perfectly but skip the polish and deburr of the ECO/PRO versions. The OGbuilt Steering Box comes raw — dents and dings stay — with new bearings, seals, hardware, and gasket. The original roller and worm are reused. This box will have ZERO play. It could have inconsistencies — a flat spot, a gear-like feel — but no play.
Why would we build a box that isn't perfect? Fair question. It's like how you order a steak. Most say medium rare, some want it well done — one cook doesn't fit all. 99.9% of the steering complaints we hear come down to one thing: PLAY. The other 0.1% are the perfectionists (like us) — and that's who ECObuilt and PRObuilt steering exists for.
WHY THIS BEAM EXISTS
One reason: cost. This beam doesn't meet our standard for aesthetics — and it's still better than every other assembled beam on the market. Guaranteed. Old German beams have issues. Urethane bushings belong on sand rails. Imported link pins and tie rod ends are roadside-fix parts, not build parts.
