The sun drops behind the mangroves. A flock crosses the sky. Florida Bay goes quiet and gold.

This is where the Florida Keys begin.

New boat charging stations are open at Flamingo Lodge boat parking:

Low tide turns Florida Bay into a mirror. Two ibis wade through the shallows, unbothered, while a heron watches from a distance, all of it doubled in glass-still water. Out here, evenings don't rush. The light stretches, the birds work the tideline, and everything just settles.

This is the quiet side of Flamingo, the one that shows up when you slow down enough to notice it.

The first cool morning of the season has a sound to it. Pine needles settling, coffee brewing, the Everglades waking up around you.

Long Pine Key Campground reopens November 1 for the 2026–2027 season, and this year we’re bringing back a few small comforts. Stop by for grab-and-go coffee, snacks, drinks and a handful of souvenirs to remember your stay.
