Everyone in this picture brings the Spirit of NASA to every MidAmerica event, but over the past few seasons, Elton Towne has raised the bar. He hasn’t just developed his racecraft; he’s helped build our community.
Randy and I have witnessed firsthand how Elton has taken his own track experience and turned it into something that makes the entire event better for everyone around him. From behind the wheel, grilling something amazing, (think tailgating at our race events) to hosting cook offs trackside, Elton brings a spirit to our race community that’s hard to explain but impossible to miss.
We are proud to recognize Elton Towne as this season’s Spirit of NASA Award recipient!
This award is meaningful because, in our region’s 20-year history, it has been presented three times.
Our Spirit of NASA Award recipients:
* Bryan Cohn (RIP)— For mentoring, coaching, and his support of NASA and our regional community.
* Russ Lane — For achievement in the face of adversity and sportsmanship.
* Elton Towne — For sportsmanship, growing our community, and representing the spirit of our sport.
Congratulations, Elton! We all feel blessed to have you as part of our racing family.
