Loved taking the GTO on track, it was in its element.

Stefano Carmassi oversaw the 599 XX and 599 GTO projects, Carmassi is credited with other key projects from the Enzo to the Le Mans winning 499P.

Fernandino Canizzo managed the GTO’s amazing bodywork and aero was developed directly from the 599 XX’s experience and award-winning powertrain chief engineer Vittorio Dini developed the GTO’s engine. Dini’s superb 6.0L Ferrari V12 F140 CE used in the 599 GTO is an engineering development of the Enzo’s F140 B unit and 599 XX’s F140 CF unit.

The GTO’s immense V12 soundtrack is monumental and as time passes, perfection

Next month RM Sotheby’s 2026 The Monterey Auction takes place 13th August-15th August, and this year’s catalogue makes usual delicious reading. From Ferrari’s Big 5, 1996 McLaren F1 GTR, 1962 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato, 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport to the insanely gorgeous 1947 Talbot-Lago T26 Record Cabriolet by Figoni et Falaschi, and many other gems in between

The impeccable 1995 US spec Ferrari F50 previously owned by the awesome Iron Mike Tyson, the 1991 US spec Ferrari F40 that was purchased direct from the factory by the legendary Lee Iacocca and has only 320 recorded miles, and a Palm Beach Cavallino Platinum award winning 1999 Ferrari 550 Maranello in gorgeous Blu Nart over Beige (one of only 50 delivered in this colour) with only 3383 miles, for fairly obvious reasons, caught my eye 😍🐎💎🇮🇹

This typical 458 Speciale moment captures that exact essence. One of Maranello’s Crown Jewels: the 4.5L Tipo F136 FL flat-plane crank V8, the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 Ferrari ever built, pushing 597 hp at the 9,000 rpm redline. With an exceptional 14:1 compression ratio and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that snaps off upshifts 20% faster than the standard Italia, its response is instantaneous and visceral.

This particular 458 Speciale is running the impressive Fi exhaust system.

In 2023, Jethro Bovingdon wrote in Evo Magazine: “In a world where supercars are becoming more digital, more detached, the Speciale is a reminder of what pure, mechanical emotion feels like.”

Evo crowned the Ferrari 458 Speciale “The best driver’s car of the last 25 years”. Fair shout imo 😍🐎💎🇮🇹

Interesting to see the Pista moving up sharply in values generally, not that I’m entirely surprised; ferocious performance, monumental twin turbo V8, virtually turbo-lag free, (with full carbon options), exquisite detail design, the first introduction of those gorgeous looking and weight reducing Ferrari carbon fibre wheels. And this particular 488 Pista, the first Ferrari in Verde Francesca 🐎💚

Following the raw, unfiltered brilliance of the F40, Ferrari didn’t just build a successor, they engineered a statement of pure intent. The F50 was a staggering leap of automotive ambition.

It brought the absolute pinnacle of Formula 1 technology directly to the tarmac. A full carbon-fibre monocoque chassis acting as a fully stressed member. A naturally aspirated, 4.7-liter 60-valve V12 screaming and bolted right behind your shoulders. And an incredibly clever design that morphs seamlessly from a sleek Berlinetta into a completely open authentic Barchetta.

Warming her up on a clear sunny morning at Dunsfold a few weeks ago, she’s a glorious testament to the scale of Maranello’s ambition 🐎❤️🇮🇹

No shields, rare Fiorano Handling Pack, Nero leather interior with Daytona seats, Argento Nürburgring exterior because that’s where the Ferrari 550 Maranello was launched in July 1996, the Nürburgring Circuit.

One of the greatest moments driving this exquisite V12 Ferrari? Ferrari GB use run its own driving club called Club Fiorano, run by the wonderful and sadly missed legendary GP driver Peter Gethin. The club use to hold small, private meets at various circuits including Brands Hatch.

The club supplied their own 360 F1 Ferraris with pro instructors. But you could pay more and take your own car on circuit with an instructor, which was the best.

As other drivers were changing over in the 360s I was out in the above 550 Maranello. We were using the full GP circuit at Brands, one of the truly great circuits. The instructor calmly spoke into the microphone and said:

“Concentrate and keep pushing hard but thought you’d like to know you are now alone on the GP Brands Hatch circuit”

The entire circuit, and into the woods, for just under 2 laps we were by ourselves.

Still vivid in my head as I write this, the 550 flew. More than 26 years later, it remains my greatest driving moment, because I had never owned a Ferrari until the 550 Maranello, and the experience that day was beyond any of my many dreams. Yes, the later cars in the stable are extraordinary but alone on the Brands Hatch circuit with an instructor pushing me hard, in this sublime 550, the last drive-by-cable manual transmission V12 Ferrari, was a dream realised, and some

I adore this car, one of the greats 🐎❤️🇮🇹

The ultra-rare roadster Ferrari Sergio, based on the 458 Spider chassis, built as an homage to the extraordinary, legendary Sergio Pininfarina who had passed away in 2012. It was Officially revealed in December 2014 at the Ferrari Finali Mondiali in Abu Dhabi and made its public show debut at the Geneva Salon in March 2015

Although inspired by the dramatic Barchetta concept unveiled at the Geneva Salon in 2013, the Ferrari Sergio production cars were comprehensively re-engineered for the road

Just six examples were built in a collaboration of Ferrari and Pininfarina, and powered by the sublime naturally aspirated 4.5L V8 power from the 458 Speciale delivering 597hp at 9000rpm

The 458 Speciale A made its world debut at the in October 2014 at the Paris Motor Show. Extraordinary times as the magnificent Ferrari naturally aspirated V8 came to an end

Jekyll, meets Hyde, IFKYK 🤩 Driving a Ferrari F40 is a masterclass in the “scared-safe” reflex, fear turning into absolute euphoria the second the boost floods the engine, when max boost 1.1 bar (16 PSI) and 577 Nm arrives

This easyJet takeoff at Skiathos airport in Greece 🇬🇷recently is the perfect visual representation of 1.1 bar hitting all at once

The intense transition from anticipation to survival to absolute euphoria. Bit like watching the the football too 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🤩

What are we like 😂😍🚀

Big congrats to on his latest addition, a gorgeous Ferrari 812 Superfast with epic Novitec enhancement, with his Novitec 458 Speciale, adding that epic 6.5L V12 engine delivering 789hp and 718Nm of torque makes a perfect duo 👏👏🔥🔥🔥
