Some folks ask, “Are Demons Real?” Well, mine were, and there were a lot of them.

Some folks refer to them as genetic tendencies, others as generational curses, but whatever you call them, they are real. The majority of people struggle with the same issues their parents, as well as their grandparents going back several generations, struggled with.

The Un-Addicted tells the story of how I unpacked my many addictions in Federal Prison. Drugs, all kinds of drugs, p**n, extreme sexual addiction, food, extreme violent anger, su***de, GREED, insecurity, and self-harm are just a few of the many issues that I inherited and embraced that came from my family.

I went from being a millionaire at 28 to losing it all to my opioid addiction. Then, I remade myself in the car business, making over 300k a year. Then, I lost it all again to addiction, not just drug addiction, but addiction to a plethora of depraved self-destructive behaviors.

But God… My life as a pastor of a small but powerful booming congregation is defined by seeing folks set free from the many aspects of life that lead them to agree with their demons, embracing the torment as a way of life.

The Un-Addicted is my testimony of how the Lord Saved me in Federal Prison and how He led me to FREEDOM.

Why? Why can’t I overcome this anxiety, depression, these constant thoughts of hurting myself? Why am I willing to risk and even forsake my family for drugs? Why can’t I stop overeating, stop watching p**n, stop gossiping? Why do I hate certain people? Why can’t I forgive? Why am I holding on to so much resentment, bitterness, and envy? Why am I jealous of the success of others?

Why is my desire to be rich, powerful, and successful stronger than my desire to be a godly husband and father?

I found a p**n magazine in our neighbor's garbage at 4. I started sniffing gas at 5. I started fighting in the 3rd grade. A great-uncle molested me at around 9 or 10. I started stealing candy and selling it at school at 12. I started selling drugs at 14.

And I was a pastor’s kid, raised by good parents, raised being taught the Word of God, had multiple powerful encounters with the Holy Spirit as a child and as a teenager.

But I was broken, and the enemy exploited the pain, the hurt, the trauma, and the abuse and created an egotistical, self-centered tyrant, which made me successful in the World but worthless in the Kingdom of God.

I was booted out of the Army for fighting and went to work, earning over 100k a year as an industrial radiographer. I opened a business at 28 and was a multi-millionaire within a year. I lost the company due to my drug addiction. I went to work in the car business, moved up fast, and within 18 months, I was averaging over 30k a month. I lost that job due to my drug addiction. I committed bank fraud, got caught, and spent 26 months in Federal Prison. And this is where I began to unpack “My Why!”

I was not addicted to drugs, p**n, excessively depraved sexual sin, money, power, or prestige. I was born addicted to sin. There is but one answer to overcoming addiction to sin: TOTAL Submission to the Lordship of Christ. This is the first step that must take place before healing can begin, but after this step, the real work begins.

The Un-Addicted is about Uncovering My Why, My Redemption, My Restoration, who I Am according to My Heavenly Father, and My Purpose for Being Born.
