Have you seen the debacle they had in Tulsa last weekend? Vice Grip Garage was there and they were trying to set a world record classic car parade. The city of Tulsa and the promoters totally dropped the ball thousands of cars were turned away even though they had pre registered for the event. Vice Grip is holding Tulsa’s feet to the fire so they will take accountability for it. I decided to show my support to VGG by buying a T shirt. Not that I needed another. But the guys standing up for the car community in a big way. Help him out if you can.

For Tractor Tuesday, we have a Oliver G-955 owned by Daniel and Luke Elliott of Ash Grove, MO. This tractor was built at a time when White Motor Company held ownership of the companies Oliver, Minneapolis Moline, and Cockshutt. These companies were blended together to form White Farm Equipment that expanded the parent company (White) outside of their truck line into the agriculture sector. For a time, each company operated under their own brand and name, all being managed by White. The only difference was now White would mix parts/machines between brands as the need arose. For example, some Oliver tractors would be painted red and sent to the Canadian market branded as Cockshutt. From this system of mixing brands/parts came the Oliver/Minneapolis Moline G-955 as well as the White version-the model 1870 , being produced from 1973-1974. Utilizing the engine from the Minneapolis Moline G950, options included a 451ci diesel or a 425ci LP-Gas. With these, the model would produce a PTO horsepower of 97 and 92, respectively. This made up the front half of the tractor. Bringing up the rear is the over/under hydraul shift three speed, transmission, final drives, drawbar and three point as well as the operator’s platform (dash, seat, fenders ,ect.) from a 1955 Oliver. This made for a very durable tractor in the 90-100 hp range that gave buyers an option that literally “met in the middle” between Minneapolis Moline and Oliver.

The featured tractor is the Oliver version with the diesel option. From what we know, it has been a local tractor all of its life, spending a large amount of it with a long time family friend. Last fall, he offered to sell both this tractor and a G-955 Minneapolis Moline to me and Luke. Over the winter, we gave the Oliver a tune up and Luke got to mow hay with it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. The Minneapolis Moline still needs a little work, and we’re hoping to get it going soon. We are excited to put these tractors to work in

Last week we had the pleasure of taking part in Library Day at our showgrounds! We belted up the rock crusher, gave out rides, and got to share a little piece of history with so many great folks.
