After getting the motor sorted, put his ’77 to the test with a 2,000-mile drive from Washington to Texas. Longest run the truck’s ever made — and it proved it’s got plenty of life left in it.

The build hasn’t been simple. Finding original doors took four months of searching. Headers? Three wrong sets before ordering a custom pair out of Nevada. Almost every part ordered had to be sent back. What started as aggravation is now just part of the story.

Because at the end of the day, it’s worth it.

Plans for ’s Highboy include a four-wheel camper, a turbocharged and fuel-injected Ford 300, custom suspension, and fresh Candy Apple Red paint.

Some guys buy a truck to flip. bought his ’77 because he loved it just as it sat — a green super cab with original patina, still solid, still uncut.
The plan from day one was clear: swap in a 7.3 Powerstroke, make it a 4x4, and build it into something worth driving cross-country. First season behind the wheel and he’s already logging road trips without a hitch.
