🎃👻 HALLOWEEN SAFETY ALERT FROM DOWNRIVER TECH WORKS! 👻🎃

🍬 Little ghosts, goblins, and superheroes will be hitting the streets tomorrow night! Let's make sure everyone makes it home safely with plenty of candy and great memories! 🍫

🚸 TRICK-OR-TREAT SAFETY TIPS FOR PARENTS & KIDS:

🔦 BE SEEN! – Carry flashlights, glow sticks, or wear reflective accessories. Dark costumes can be difficult for drivers to spot!

🚶 CROSS SAFELY! – Use sidewalks and crosswalks whenever possible. Look BOTH ways before crossing, and never assume a driver sees you.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 STICK TOGETHER! – Younger children should always have an adult with them. Older kids should travel in groups and have a plan to check in.

🎭 CHOOSE SAFE COSTUMES! – Make sure costumes don't drag on the ground or block vision. Consider face paint instead of masks that limit visibility.

🍭 CHECK THAT CANDY! – Parents should inspect treats before kids dig in, especially for potential allergens, choking hazards, or damaged packaging.

🚗 ATTENTION DRIVERS! THIS PART IS FOR YOU!

⚠️ Slow down in residential neighborhoods!

👀 Watch carefully between parked cars for children who might suddenly cross.

📱 PUT THE PHONE DOWN! A split second of distraction can change someone's life forever.

💡 Turn your headlights on early and pay extra attention at intersections and driveways.

🛑 Be patient! Excited kids don't always remember the rules of the road.

🔧 DOWNRIVER TECH WORKS SAFETY TIP:

Before heading out tonight, take 30 seconds to make sure your headlights, brake lights, and turn signals are working properly. Being able to SEE and BE SEEN is one of the simplest ways to help prevent an accident!

🎃 REMEMBER: THE ONLY THING SCARY ABOUT HALLOWEEN SHOULD BE THE COSTUMES! 👻

❤️ Let's keep our Downriver communities safe this Halloween!

👇 PARENTS! What's your little one's costume this year? Drop a picture in the comments! 📸🎃

🔋 Downriver neighbors — have a cordless tool battery that won’t charge or doesn’t hold a charge?

Downriver Tech Works is exploring interest in diagnosing cordless tool battery problems and rebuilding packs where it can be done safely and makes economic sense.

We’re considering a $15 diagnostic fee, credited toward an approved repair totaling $50 or more. Repair pricing would be provided for approval before work begins. Not every pack will be suitable for rebuilding.

Would this interest you? Comment with your tool brand, battery model, and the problem you’re having, or message the Page.

This is an interest check only — we’re not accepting batteries for service yet.

🔋 Will your battery survive winter?

Cold weather is hard on batteries, and a battery that seems fine right now can leave you stranded once the temperature drops.

Here are 3 warning signs to watch for:

⚡ Slow cranking when you start the vehicle
⚡ Battery is 4–5+ years old
⚡ Lights dim or electronics act strange while starting

A quick battery test now can save you a no-start on a freezing morning.

I’ll be showing how to properly test a battery — not just check the voltage — here on Downriver Tech Works.

🚗🔧 Michigan winter is coming — is your vehicle ready?

Don’t wait until the first 25° morning to find out your battery is weak or your tires are low.

Here are 5 things I recommend checking NOW:

🔋 Battery health — not just voltage, but an actual load/conductance test
🛞 Tire pressure & TPMS — pressure drops as temperatures fall
❄️ Coolant protection — make sure the freeze point is where it should be
🌧️ Wipers & washer fluid — winter-rated washer fluid is a must
💡 Lights — headlights, brake lights, turn signals and fog lights

Over the next few weeks I’m going to show how to test some of this stuff yourself, including using professional diagnostic tools and a thermal imager to find problems you might otherwise miss.

Follow Downriver Tech Works for automotive repair, cool tech, tools, diagnostics, brewing and whatever else we decide to tear apart. 😂🔧🍺

Here’s a quick look at how I use the Snap-on EETH312A thermal imager to diagnose heat patterns on hoses, bearings, and electrical components.
A tool like this makes winter inspections way faster and way more accurate.
