Many thanks to Manual and Janice for coming back to see The Wizard of Modz with their new Hiker. We got both room mods done for them so they can start prepping the camper for a big trip out west.
Were hoping to cross paths with them in Washington on our trip out west. Till then safe travels and happy camping!

When I am not modifying campers I am usually busy working on something else. Here is my lastest creation. I saw one of these for a different machine but they did not make an adapter for mine. No problem, if you can't buy it, build it.
The 4ft rake came from Amazon, the adapter plate was actually a manual quick hitch that I cut apart and inverted, then welded a 2 inch reciver tube from good old Harbor Freight to it.
I have so many uses for this in my mind. From clearing out brushy areas, to roughing up slopes for grass sead, to pulling weeds out of pond banks, the uses are endless!

It may be a holiday weekend but that does not slow us down. We have a brand new Hiker sitting in the shop about to get dual Annex room mods done to it. We always feel very honored when our shop is the first stop an owner makes with their brand new camper.
These owners were actually our 75th room mod customer with their previous Hiker. They took it on a four-month adventure through western Canada and Alaska then came back and decided to upgrade to a little bigger version. They knew right away that they wanted the room mod on both sides this time.

Vintage Singers, when you want a sewing machine that will work as hard as you do.
Working on annex room number 135 today. Scotty has done all but 2 of those. Plus 47 shower rooms, along with numerous other projects. He is the original Timex, as he just keeps ticking along.

An owner from Kansas rolled into the shop this morning and as we got started doing mods to the awning I noticed some damage. Turns out they gave it the ultimate stress test the very first night they used it.
They said they did not put enough "ghansta" lean to it and rain collected on top of the awning till enough weight built up that it collapsed the rear vertical leg and bent the rear sidearm pole.
I was able to make a jig and fix the holes that the side arm pins go in. The end frame had a bad downward bow in it so I made another jig to try and remove the bow. I was only able to get about half the bow out as when you bend channel downward like this was it stretches the legs of the channel. I could only get so much of the bulge out of the legs as I bent it back up. But its much better than it was as there was over an inch of downward dow when I started.
We have the RRED system installed in their awning now and all should be fine assuming the system is used properly.
If you do not have our RRED system, you really need to drop a corner leg a good 2½ to 3 feet to make sure the water runs off. If any water gets trapped then the awning gets depressed and the water just starts building up. Bad things happen after that.

Many thanks to Tasha for traveling all the way from West Viginia to get mods done to her camper. We hope her and her little ones really enjoy their new room mod.
We took the measurements we need off her camper so that she can come back next year and get the shower room mod done. Tasha is really looking forward to getting the water heater mod done as well.
Thanks and again to Tasha, safe travels and happy camping!

I have been modifying trailers for a long time now. Here is one I modified back in 2014. Its the trailer for our sailboat. We used to have to back so far into the water to launch our boat that the rear of the tow vehicle was submerged. I cut the trailer apart and built this sliding tongue that extends a little over 4 feet. No more submerging the rear of the tow vehicle to get the Memory Maker to float off the bunks now.
This works so well I am incorporating the design into a new utility trailer I am building for myself. I often need to carry 24 foot long lumber. I will be able to extend the tongue to carry longer loads with it when I am done.
I also added the vertical motor stand to carry and store the outboard motor. This gets the weight off the transom and adjustable motor mount and gives a rock solid mount for the motor.
The PVC tube is where we store our mast raising pole and mast crutch.
If you can't buy it, build it!

Its not everyday I get to show an owner that the RRED system really works but this evening we had an owner run up from Louisville to get a device installed in his 6½ ft ARB awning. We heard thunder when we started so I drove pins in tbe stone drive and anchored it down. Then I worked as fast as I colud to get the awning setup so I could install the device. Just as I got it installed it let loose! We stood under the awning and watched it pour down. The rain let up so we put everything up, then it really let loose! I am soaked. Shoes are squishy 🙄

Every now and then I need a little reminder of why I despise this sewing machine so much. I had a sailboat project to work on this morning so I thought I would use the Sailrite. Why I did that I have no idea. What would have taken 5 minutes on one of my vintage singers took about 45 minutes and I was literally ready to get the sledgehammer out and beat this POS into Oblivion!
If you're considering buying one of these don't! I've wasted more of my life working on this machine trying to keep it in time and sewing then I ever should have.
