New guitar day. This Gretsch penguin has some amazing pickups. That TV Jones classic plus has harmonics as well as a timber that no other hum-buckers have. It plays so good. My first guitar that my parents bought me in the eighties was a pink hair metal looking guitar so I knew at some point I had to have another pink one, or well you know ch*****ne or whatever.

Taking out some frustrations on the . I got it playing through a quad cortex. It’s handling the distortion and that’s all it’s doing. I got a pedal supplying some deep reverb in spots and then finally through the crown jewel. The amp. I have the stereo vibrato effect wobbling around a bit to give a psychedelic feel. The amp is unbelievable. I have a new song coming out shortly on all the streaming platforms I used the magantone for the guitar tracks, and I just thought id do some loud noodling in the meantime.

This is one of my own songs, written and recorded around 2008–2009 for a chopper documentary I made called Free To Wander.

Looking back at it now feels a little surreal. I wrote all the music for the documentary, filmed it, and somehow got the chance to sit down and interview people I genuinely admired. At the time, I was just living the dream and probably didn’t realize how special that chapter of my life really was.

Some of the people in the film are gone now. Others are still out there creating, building, and doing their thing.

It was a different time, and I was a different person.

Sometimes I wish I could combine the energy I had back then with the age, experience, and wisdom I have now.

There are also two versions of this song on Spotify and iTunes, and Free To Wander is currently available to rent or own on Amazon Prime. I wish I could tell you it was free—the royalties I get from it are pretty much nonexistent anyway. 😂

Still, I’m grateful I made it. It captured a time, a culture, and a group of people that meant a lot to me—and still do.

A little slow Monday morning therapy. 🌙🎸

No destination. Just turn some k***s and see where the sound takes you.

This Magnatone Amplifiers Panoramic Stereo is otherworldly. That Magnatone vibrato bends and swirls everything in the best possible way. Add the Death By Audio Rooms pedal and suddenly you’re floating somewhere between 1967 and outer space. 🛸

Turn it up. Let it wobble. Get lost for a while.

Recorded with an Audigo Labs mic.

Had a great crowd at Stone Ledge Distillery a couple weeks back, but the best part for me was getting to share the stage with my wife and daughter. I’m incredibly grateful that music is something we get to do together. Those are the moments I know I’ll look back on someday.

What I do live is probably a little unconventional. I use a loop pedal to essentially build and control my own backing band. Every drum and bass part you hear was actually played and recorded by me—no downloaded tracks, no outside samples.

And it’s not just hitting play and singing over a backing track. I control the arrangement live with my feet while I’m performing. If I want to extend a section, shorten something, or let a groove ride a little longer because the moment feels right, I can.

It keeps every performance a little different and still leaves room for the spontaneity of playing live.

Technology gets a bad rap sometimes, but I love using it in a way that lets me make more music—not less.

And getting to make that music with my wife and daughter makes it even better.
