Plymouth, MN - Stevens-Miller Racing (SMR), a renowned name in the Trans Am Series and TA2 category, today announces a significant change in its racing operations. Joe Stevens, the owner and driving force behind SMR's success, has decided to step back from full-time racing commitments to focus on a new, joyous chapter following the birth of his first child in January.
Reflecting on his career, Joe Stevens said, "Racing has been an incredible journey for me. Winning championships with a team that feels like family and working alongside some of the industry's brightest minds and most incredible personalities has been an absolute privilege. However, as life evolves, so do our priorities. It's time for me to focus on my growing family and strive for a better work-life balance."
Joe extends his gratitude to the many drivers, partners like Berryman Products Inc, LIQUI MOLY, CUBE 3 Racing, Sabelt America, Katech, Pro-System Brakes, and many others who have contributed to all that SMR has accomplished, acknowledging that none of it would have been possible without the Trans Am Series and everyone involved. He added, "I want to make sure I speak to the relationship I've grown with Howe Racing Enterprises. The Beaverton, Michigan team is such a great group of people, and I feel just as much family with them as I do with the team I assembled at SMR. Chas Howe is a great leader, and I learned a lot from him, Patsy, Charlie, and Faith along the way. I wish them the best as we focus on what's most important in life and potential racing outside the Trans Am Series."
Chas Howe reflects, "Trans Am officials and competitors spend the equivalent of nearly two months together each year, and we will miss our most familiar neighbor. I have always greatly appreciated dedicated and enthusiastic people, and Joe is gifted with those qualities. Our relationship with Joe Stevens and SMR began with Joe as a driver for Mike Miller in 2015. Joe made the successful transition from driver to championship team owner, and we are proud of his accomplishments. We wish Joe, Erin Stevens, their daughter Evelyn, Gary, and the SMR family God's blessings with whatever their future has in store for them. We are disappointed to lose a Trans Am team but grateful to continue a friendship."
While Stevens-Miller Racing will not compete full-time in the upcoming seasons, the team members remain committed to the Trans Am community. Joe will stay connected with fellow competitors and doesn't rule out a potential return to the racing scene in the future.
"We've made unforgettable memories on the track, and I'm grateful for every moment. I'm looking forward to making new ones with my family," Joe added.
