To everyone who said installing a stove and vent pipe is “simple”—thank you for the laugh. After weeks of planning, reading through every setup imaginable, and climbing up and down this ladder more times than I can count, she’s finally in. Not perfect, but she’s going to do the job just fine. Huge thanks to everyone here whose advice kept me from making major mistakes.

To the people on this page who unknowingly answered about 500 of my questions through old posts and comment sections — THANK YOU. After a lot of planning and a little bit of stress, the stove and chimney are finally installed. I know there are cleaner setups out there, but for our needs this one should work just fine. Looking forward to the first burn and many warm winters ahead. Appreciate all the help from this community! 🔥

To everyone who told me, “Just install the chimney, it’s not that hard” — I’d like to personally thank you for the complete lack of honesty. After spending weeks researching clearances, brackets, supports, wall thimbles, and reading about 4,000 opinions online, the thing is FINALLY up. Was it a giant pain in the ass? Absolutely. Did I question my life choices halfway through? More than once. But she's standing, she's straight, and she's ready to make heat. Huge thanks to everyone in this group who actually gave useful advice instead of saying “just wing it.”

To whoever thought it would be HILARIOUS to leave a glitter-filled package sitting out where people could grab it—I hope you're proud of yourself. I picked it up thinking it was a normal package, opened it in my car, and instantly had glitter blasted across my seats, carpet, clothes, and vents. This isn't a harmless prank. Glitter is practically impossible to remove completely, and now I'm stuck spending hours cleaning up someone else's mess. Police have already been notified, and if I find out who did this, I WILL be pressing charges. Grow up.

To the people who are about to tell me this chimney setup is going to destroy the fabric of space and time—I am fully prepared. 😂 This is a temporary setup that cost me roughly $400 all-in, and honestly, we're loving the stove so far. Before the inspection committee arrives, yes, I know there are things I'd do differently with unlimited money and time. For now it's keeping us warm, the house is still standing, and nobody has called the fire department. Curious to hear everyone's thoughts! 🔥

The stove works perfectly. The chimney stands tall. The ladder exists. And yet somehow, the internet is convinced I’m seconds away from a catastrophe.

This temporary setup is heating the house perfectly, yet somehow, the internet is convinced I’m constructing a chimney disaster zone.

The pipe is standing.
The stove is working.
The house is intact.
And yet somehow, I am receiving unsolicited panic advice from strangers.

I have officially opened the comment section investigation.

Yes, it's temporary.

Yes, I know someone is currently zooming into this photo looking for a bracket that's ⅛" out of place.

For approximately $400 I have acquired:

• One functioning stove
• One chimney
• Unlimited unsolicited engineering advice
• Three future projects
• A sudden interest in structural load calculations

The stove is heating the house beautifully.

The internet, however, has informed me that I may need:

More brackets
Different brackets
Bigger brackets
A permit
An engineer
A priest

Please submit all complaints in writing.

Until then, I will continue enjoying my warm house while pretending not to read the comments.

To whoever suggested passing a chimney through my soffit:

I’ve already called the imaginary Department of Critter Control.

The clearances are perfect. The stove drafts perfectly. Yet somehow, I’ve created a deluxe highway into my attic for every squirrel, bird, and raccoon in the neighborhood.

I tried to cover most of the gap with a modified ceiling plate. “Most” is not enough. I am now on constant high alert.

If any critter moves in because of this, I WILL be pressing charges. Absolutely ridiculous.
