Am I being sc**mmed by the dealership?

The only reason I’m asking this is because I’ve been overcharged for repairs by this same dealership. The only problem is, no one locally would do a routine maintenance service on my car so I had to bring it there. I also need brakes I guess? I only asked for my rotors to be replaced. I was told by a different mechanic, one I trust and have been going to for years, while my mom has also gone to him since before I was born and he told me I needed new rotors, not brakes as they were fine). Dealership doesn’t quote me for rotors. I know for a solid fact my oil pan gasket is not leaking. My tires are only a few months old, idk why they’re trying to quote me on tires. I was also asked if I wanted a check engine light diagnostic run and I told them no as I knew it was a catalytic converter issue. They did it anyway. It’s a $200 dollar service if I do not get the repair done. Should I go pick my vehicle up? I do not have $6.5k and for what I dropped it off for (rotors, spark plugs, and regular scheduled maintenance), I thought it would be in the 1k-1.5k range.

CA Smog Failed for the 3rd time

I drive a 1990 jeep Cherokee XJ Manual transmission. This is the third fail I’ve received and I’m getting down to the wire on registration since I moved here from NY.

I’ve changed my fuel injectors and my o2 sensor. Any other suggestions?

$18,000 repair bill thoughts?

just got my car back from the dealer and they quoted me over $18,000 for a cylinder head and turbocharger.

the reason: car smokes after idling and you get on the gas. i could understand if it was maybe the turbo or the headgasket, but both, along with the cylinder head? it does consume the smallest amount of coolant and the smoke isn’t even that major and not constant.

car is 2018 bmw x1 with only 117,000kms it’s probably worth 16k if it wasn’t smokey.

definitely going to get a second opinion from another mechanic. The car runs good, holds boost but it’s just a little smokey. just curious on if people think both is unreasonable or have any other thoughts? And is this just a disaster waiting to happen if i keep driving the car?

Honda quoted me over 3K for repairs. Which of these are really necessary?

I have a honda HRV 2020 and after a routine oil change was told that my car needs quite a few repairs. Aside from the cabin air filter which I can change myself which ones of these repairs are absolutely necessary? Thanks in advance
