On August 6, 2011, a U.S. Army CH-47D Chinook, with the call sign "Extortion 17", was shot down by Taliban fighters south of Kabul, Afghanistan. 13 years ago, the United States experienced the most significant loss of lives to our Special Operations Forces on this day in history.
