October 10, 2025, Cowes, Isle of Wight, UK.
The assets of Cowes-based boatbuilder Island RIBs have been purchased from liquidators, and the business will continue trading under new ownership, effective immediately.
Joint liquidators Stewart Goldsmith and Michael Fortune of Leonard Curtis completed the purchase on 16 September 2025, selling to Island RIBs Manufacturing Ltd, funded by customers and a founding director. The new owners intend to continue production, marketing, and sales under the management of Alex Cottle. Jobs have been saved, and the company’s assets including its brand, designs, and production equipment have been transferred.
Speaking on behalf of the purchasers, Richard Cree said that Island RIBs has established an outstanding international reputation for high-quality commercial and recreational RIBs and is confident there is a strong future ahead for the company.
“Island RIBs has become well-known for quality, reliability, and marine excellence. It’s an incredibly well-respected name in boatbuilding, and we’re delighted to now open a new chapter in its history. Following positive discussions with the existing supply chain, Island RIBs Manufacturing Ltd will continue uninterrupted manufacturing on the Isle of Wight.”
“Island RIBs will continue to design, manufacture and support its customers in commercial and recreational applications both in the UK and abroad, continuing to set the benchmark for quality, reliability, performance, and compliance.” said Mr Cree.
