Before anyone starts dropping names, teammates or excuses… we’re talking championship points! 😂

In the Backdraft Racing Series, every driver must drop their TWO lowest scores from rounds they ENTERED.

Had a nightmare race and collected only your 5 entry points? Drop it!
Had another one? Drop that too!

But a race you didn’t enter? Nice try. That zero stays exactly where it is.

The full score goes in the bin, including the 5 entry points. So, dropping two 5-point results costs you 10 points. Your rival dropping two 15-point finishes? That’s 30 points gone. Suddenly, your bad weekends look surprisingly useful! 👀

Two rounds remain, calculators are warming up, and nobody should be ordering championship T-shirts just yet!

Since the start of 2026, the Backdraft Racing Series has become a home for endurance racing. Tony Martin understands what makes it work: an arrive-and-race programme, plenty of track time and a family-friendly environment, free from politics.

And although it carries the Backdraft name, the welcome extends to any endurance car!

Join us on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 November at Dezzi Raceway for the penultimate round of the Backdraft Racing Series.

A full day of practice on Friday, followed by two sprint races and a 3-hour endurance race on Saturday. Plenty of time behind the wheel!

The big question before we went to Red Star Raceway : which direction is quicker, clockwise or anti-clockwise?

The pole position times tell the story:

2024 — Clockwise
Lonnika Maartens: 2:08,540

2026 — Anti-clockwise
Mike McLoughlin: 2:08,854

Just 0.314 seconds separates them, with clockwise taking the honours!

Two very fast drivers, the same Backdraft Cobras and almost identical conditions… have we settled the debate? 👀

Son teaches Father ❤️

Usually, it’s the father showing his son the ropes. This weekend, the roles were reversed!

International pro driver Mikaeel Pitamber took Red Star Raceway’s anti-clockwise layout in his stride, while father Kishoor was more than happy to pick up a few tips and tricks from his son throughout the weekend.

One of those special moments in the family we call the Backdraft Racing Series.

📊 Movers and Shakers!

With Round 5 complete, there’s been plenty of movement in the Backdraft Racing Series championship standings!

In the Backdraft Class, Richard van Heerde did the best business, climbing eight positions into the top three. Steve Clark and Gavin Rooke have also moved into the top five.

In the overall standings, Kishoor Pitamber still leads, but his DNF has allowed Mike McLoughlin to close the gap. Van Heerde made his mark here too, gaining seven places.

But this fight is far from over! Two rounds remain, and with each competitor’s two lowest-scoring rounds to be dropped, the standings could still take another turn. 👀

Five rounds in, and we’ve already welcomed 55 points-scoring competitors to the Backdraft Racing Series endurance championship!

The battles are intense, the family keeps growing, and there are still two rounds left for you to join the action.
