Two tons of ancient Africa, cooling off at the waterhole. π¦π§
White rhinos are the second-largest land mammal on Earth, weighing up to 2,300 kg. Their name has nothing to do with colour. It comes from the Afrikaans word "wyd," meaning wide, which describes their broad, square lips built for grazing on grasslands.
Notice the red-billed oxpeckers hitching a ride?
These small birds spend their days picking ticks, flies, and parasites from the rhino's thick skin. In return, they act as an early warning system, hissing and taking flight at the first sign of danger. For an animal with poor eyesight, those extra eyes make all the difference.
Every sighting of these incredible animals feels like a privilege. Our guided Kruger Safaris take you to the places where moments like this happen.
