Suspension work can alter a vehicle’s ride height, alignment and overall geometry. These changes may affect how cameras and radar systems interpret the vehicle’s direction of travel.

No warning light? The ADAS checks may not be finished.
After a collision repair, a clear dashboard does not necessarily mean every driver-assistance system has been checked. Some faults may be stored without illuminating a warning light. A diagnostic scan helps identify faults, but it does not replace any calibration required by the vehicle-manufacturer procedure.

That distinction matters before a vehicle goes back on the road: check the procedure for the specific vehicle, complete the required scans and calibrations, and document the results.

Bumper repair? Check the radar calibration requirements.

After collision damage, structural repairs, bumper or grille removal, or work affecting the radar and its mounting area, calibration aiming is required.

New windscreen? Don’t overlook the camera calibration.

Many modern vehicles have a forward facing camera mounted near the top of the windscreen. Depending on the vehicle, this camera may support lane keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control and collision mitigation systems.

After replacing the windscreen or removing and refitting the camera, the manufacturer’s procedure may require a static calibration, dynamic calibration or both.
