Due to so many requests, here is a follow up on the MC19 regarding the dash.

The dash is a high quality Koso unit, it is not cheap chinese or a knock off.

The unit is fully programmable for any and all configurations including different presets of tachometer from 10k to the 18k as you see displayed.

It can be setup to work with any electronic oem speed system (for the most part), however it will remove any cable driven speed and tach signals to electric.

The gear position indicator doesn't rely on a physical switch, it has a calibration that you ride (not to full rpm as its not required) and can calculate the gear ratios vs speed and rpm.

The photo you see from over (with partial in the photo) the top tree is full daylight against it, the reflection you are seeing is only the camera getting the reflection of the sky, in person you don't see this, it is clear as day.

The closer photo of it shows the clarity now that the protective film has been removed. It is extremely crisp.

The left and right side show the fill panels that have been mated to this to cover the wiring and the backside of the headlight for a cleaner appearance.

The video also shows the warnings for pre and full limiter warnings (which are also programmable), in neutral its hard to distinguish between the two but pre flashes the bar black (in day mode) and changes to rev in full limit warnings.

There is tons of features including phone pairing for music info and call details. However if i was to list them all we would be here for days.

This setup has be designed to bolt in directly on the MC19 frame stay, the plastic used is more than strong enough and has all the uv protection required for outdoor and in the sun use.

You can get this all made in aluminum via cnc but it would be a lot more costly, however either one can also be finished in different forms, i.e. black texture paint, cnc can be brushed, anodized, etc..

Hope this helps clear up any questions people may have about it.

No rest for the wicked. Whilst most people have been having time off enjoying Easter, I've been working away so this bike could get done.

We have a 1988 Honda CBR250R-J, one of the classic old school screaming chickens.

Things that have been done are as follows :

OEM MC19 exhaust has been modified to be a proper 4 into 1 exhaust, a new xcite muffler has been fitted, the angle and location has been changed and all on top of this it has been tig welded.

A set of MC22 carbs have been acquired, rebuilt, and fitted to this bike with all the associated hardware (airbox, cables, boots etc..).

A new race inspired aftermarket dash has been fitted and programmed. This also allows removal of the speedo cable for a cleaner look.

On top of all this it has been dynoed at each stage of the way including dyno tuning the carbs for perfection.

The dyno graph has been cut off at the top to keep the customer's details private, however nothing else has been altered.
Before work commenced - 29.9hp and 10.1 ftlb of torque.
After we have finished tuning and completion - 36.1hp and 12.9 ftlb of torque.

To put this into perspective, the highest MC22 i've ever had on my mainline dyno has been 36.9hp. The only 250cc to ever beat it was a Suzuki GSXR-250R.
For a MC19 to make as close to MC22 power is a great increase, most mc19's make a noticeable amount less than MC22's.

The before and after completely changes how this bike will ride and feel like a new bike.

Everyone always worries about peak numbers and wants higher, the stuff before it matters a lot also, the gains in the low end and midrange are huge. This is the area that you spend most of your time at when riding on the road.

The right choice of parts and modifications matter when making a bike perform well. And the charts don't lie. This is why dyno tuning can show you if something is done right, worth while, or a negative factor.

I'm looking forward to a few more projects that are coming up and nearing completion, including a Suzuki GSX-250F Across that has taken on a rather interesting transition into something that it should have been from day one when the bike was made.

Until the next post, thanks everyone that supports us, every customer that we talk to, do work for and give us the opportunity to do these kinds of work / projects.

Stay safe and happy Easter everyone.

So often motorcycle brake systems are overlooked. Very rarely do they get serviced properly and when they should. The common excuse is that the breaks work fine or if its not broke don't fix it.

Here is an example of what 15+ years of lack of brake maintenance looks like. This isn't what you want in your brake system and fluid flushes won't fix this.
Not only is the fluid and gunk buildup making things unhappy, but as a result not all of the pistons were operating freely, some were stuck so this results in bad pad wear.

The only solution is labor intensive TLC, which gives great results it just takes time.

Just something to think about when on two wheels.
