The first Highland cattle have arrived in Bathurst! ๐Ÿ‚

After more than 12 months of planning, the showgrounds are starting to come to life as exhibitors roll in from across Australia, cattle settle into their stalls, and the final preparations begin for the 2026 Australian Highland Cattle Society National Show.

This yearโ€™s show has attracted a record 83 head of Highland cattle, bringing together some of the very best cattle from breeders across the country for the biggest weekend on the Highland cattle calendar.

The main event is the judging of these magnificent cattle by a highly respected international guest judge across Saturday and Sunday, culminating in the crowning of the 2026 Supreme Highland Exhibit.

Local Bathurst businesses have stepped in to bring a winter festival to the city after Bathurst Regional Council confirmed it would not proceed with the Winter Festival in 2026.

The Bathurst Showgrounds Winter Festival has now been officially announced, with organisers planning to transform the showgrounds into a winter-themed entertainment precinct during the July school holidays.

The event is set to feature ice skating, carnival rides, live music, food vendors and family entertainment across a two-week program from July 4 to July 19.

Organisers say the festival has been made possible through community support, with major sponsorship from McDonaldโ€™s and support from the Bathurst Showground Land Manager.

Additional community support is also being sought, with organisers calling for sponsors and local musicians to perform on the planned Honkytonk stage.

Ice skating ticket details are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
