Here’s how running a small business can suck!
I made these mechanical rear brake levers originally for 𝑭𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒌𝒊𝒆 ⚡️ 𝑲𝒍𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒅𝒍𝒐 it was just before I went to look after my dad so I was rushing a little.
The first onewas way too tight and the lever sat too far forward.
Mistake 2: I tried to be a smart arse and estimate the tolerance to fix this when I should have got a NOS brake cam to measure the new batch, but I didn’t! Batch 2 ended up being too slack and held the lever too far forward! I didn’t realise till I’d shipped 4!
Mistake 2: I tried to fix the lever position which is a simple task of just changing the angle of the shaft hole……..but I lost concentration and changed it from the REAR of the lever which meant I moved it further forward!! Do**us! Again by the time I realised…..the replacements had already been shipped to the customers on my dime of course! :-)
So here I am, embarrassed and humbled but also honest.
I will persevere and fix this issue and my customers will be supported in full and for free but this is a good reminder to me that things can wait, i dont have to operate a million miles an hour all the time.
It’s also good for everyone to see the reality of running small parts business internationally. Every mistake costs the bottom line, and since I simply can’t have every bike available to me to fit these things to so I rely on people test fitting things for me, which takes time. For this time, and patience i am grateful.
Here to more creativity and hopefully some working brake levers before Christmas!!
