So... we are done playing fabrication on the new race-buggy for a couple of weeks.

Noosa hillclimb is next weekend so I'll prep the old-car & all our gear for that.

Pack it all up Thursday & head-up to Noosa friday morning.

Sort pit-bay set-up, paper-work & Book-in stuff... get scrutineering over & done with,,, I may even have a practise run friday arvo (but probly not, I would like to save tyres & fuel for the next 3x meetings)

Im booked in for a Hip Replacement 2x days after the Leyburn sprints.
Yee haa.

Anyways... if I can save fuel & tyres by only doing a few laps each day, at each of the next 3x meetings ill be a happy camper.

We shall come back better & stronger faster & lighter & way more-fit after all the physio & Rehab & my own personal excersize program.

& attack the start of next year with the new buggy finished. (hopefully... thats the plan anyways)

We will keep the old buggy going but at some stage we will swap the turbo motor into my black sports sedan mini (for circuit racing),,,

& fit a 2003 R1 motor into the old buggy, so we will have 3x race cars running by the end of next year.

Hope to have our old kombi gearbox sorted some time in the new year too.
Its been off the road for ages & its an excellent tow-car/camper for race-meetings so we really want it back going again.

So... with the next couple of months hard yakka I should be able to take the time off for my hip-surgery & leave the boys at work & Marly to run the workshop & spare-parts dept so I can get my right hip fixed.
Yay!!!
Can't wait.
Cheers & have a lovely weekend people.

Ill sort some videos from Noosa Hillclimb on my next post.
Thanks for watching/reading.

Brad is manifesting fangin it around.

Making vroom vroom noises
😍πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ₯°πŸ˜

Test fit for race seat done...
Wings are on (dummied-up) not finished yet but getting there, they have to be mounted pretty bloody strong as they can flap-around & break if theyre not mounted tough.

Yes theyre a little extra weight but we know they work (somewhat) as we did testing at Norwell circuit with them on the old car.

& the rear one cost me $50 the front cost me $40
Cheap as chips & we have now added larger end-plates.

& yes the flat-bottom, front-splitter & Rear-Diffuser is also extra Weight but we know all that stuff works really well, thanks to Dale Allen , cheers mate.

So... we shall keep working on it & try to finalise as much as we can before stripping it down to a bare-frame for welding, sand-blasting, etch-priming & paint.

We have the Noosa Hillclimb next weekend so we won't be doing anything to this car for a coupla weeks now... just spend a little time preping the old car, sorting clutch & changing oil etc.

Then pack it all up Thursday to be at the track friday morning.

Yay i get tomorow off... ah...er... um... well I'll probably paint our house tomorow I suppose... no rest for the wicked as they say.
Cheers & let us know what you think of our cheapy little lightweight home-grown race car ok?

Friday nite at Readspeed is work on Race-Buggy night.

Brad Sinclair & I are "mocking-up" wings (front & rear)

Fully professional Areo-Engineers we are.
πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ₯°

Making brackets is a pain in the arse but measure 12x times & cut 3x times & then measure again another few times & dummy-up that bit, cut some more, drill a hole or 2, bend a bit then throw that bit away & make a new bracket

😍πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ₯°πŸ˜Just kidding, we actually nailed that back wing first go.

The front wing brackets are being a bit more of a pain in the arse but we are nearly there.

Just showing that Brad does most of the work around here.

I just delegate
😍πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ₯°

Anyways, more forward motion but just playing around trying wing positions & heights.

"BECAUSE"->>> Wings make it look more like a race-car.
😍πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ₯°
Remember that "Racecar" spelt backwards still spells "Racecar"

More progress on the new Race-Buggy this week.

Michael Paul ,from Exotic Exhausts in Kingston, waved his magic wand over our new race buggy this week.

He Made-up a nice tuned-length set of extractors & exhaust pipe for us in Quick time.

Sooper dooper appreciated Mick thank you sooo much.
Xoxoxoxoxoxo

We really wanted it back today so we can keep working on it tonight & over the weekend.

He's also modified our nice lightweight alloy mini radiator so we can start sorting the fitting of all our hoses & elect-thermo-fan & mounts & such.

We also have our front & rear wings to fit-on too.

So we will be busy over the next few days.

I've also got to swap the clutch over in the old buggy & change the oil to be ready for the Noosa Hillclimb next weekend too.

Soon I'll grab Paul Crossley & Joel Lobley to help sort all the injection wiring, we will try to use the original Yamaha stuff for now,,, see how it goes, crossing fingers it all works because that will save us some money if it does.

No rest for the wicked ey?
😍πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ₯°πŸ˜
Cheers & stay tuned.

Well... we got this little mini back from the Dyno today.

Joel Lobley Performance in Smith St Capalaba did an amazing job (as usual) he had some electrical stuff to sort & the dyno-tune to do, but we did give him some head aches that he sorted very well & very quickly, thabks soooo much Joel, youre a Legend mate.
Xoxoxoxoxo

But now we need to replace the radiator as the fan we mounted onto it decided to eat a section of the radiator (((& thats on us, our mistake))),,, so we will swallow that job, that's on us.

So whole front sub-frame/engine out again, replace radiator & fan, & whack it all back in again.

We take full responsibility for that one,,, no one else's fault but our own.

However, the tune has tuned out really really well with 210Hp at the hubs,,, so you could guess approx 200hp at the wheels (ish) who really cares? & who's gonna argue? 200hp is frighteningly fast for a mini,,, & yet again we have produced another 200hp road mini.

yes, another one of the fastest road minis in Australia.

Cheers guys... we have a chunk of work to go on it yet, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

The tunnel of love
😍πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ₯°πŸ˜

Max, thanks again for your patience with us... not far to go now.

One VERY VERY QUICK BRICK right here... thanks so much for giving us the opportunity to do this work for you, we are all very pleased the way its turned-out.

Stay-tuned
Cheers.

Good old Hinter wheel alignment machine we have been using for well over 40x years now.
Thanks so much Greg Craig

Wheel aligning today.

We do 3 or 4x wheel alignments nearly every week.

Usually all with fully adjustable stuff fitted throughout.
(Its a Front & Rear today)

So Steve is going from mostly road-use to mostly race-use.

So settings change to suit.

We put more camber & caster into race mi is than road minis... & lots depends on your driving style & the type of tyres youre using.
