Just a qu**ky about extractors.

Not all extractors are the same & not all extractors fit-well.

Thickness of fl**ges compared to inlet glang3s vary too , so often stepped washers are needed.

This set were badly twisted on both end-pipes needing quite a lot of heat & "manipulation" plus a good hard linish to get them back inline & flat.

We will also be opening the fl**ges up some more too.

There's a good couple of hours in these so far , plus more we to open the fl**ges up... then the work to adjust all the washers to step them correctly to suit both inlet & exhaust fl**ges thickness differences.

Please dont just "b**g em on"
Spend the time to get em right first ok?

We have to do this all the time... doesnt really matter what brand they are... some are worse than others ,,, & then other people have got to them as well so we generally have to repair other people's stuff-ups , &/or grab another set & start again.
Cheers.

So... there ya go
2x more heads nearly on the money.

Slightly thicker MLS cometic head gaskets will sort our desired comp ratio for both of these heads to use 98 pump fuel . Just keeps them a tad under 10:1 comp ratio.

All My work on these ended up very even in chamber volumes & theyre both perfectly suited for their intended use.
Both big enough & angled well to flow nicely for hot road use.

Now we can assemble them both with new seals, new springs & new colletts.

B**g em both on with cometic head gaskets & we are away.

There's 2x more cyl Heads down at the machine shop getting 3x angle seats & surface skims done.

John Jackson's head & Dave Le-shirleys head.

So they should be back here near the end of the week. (Yes theyre really busy down there too)

Ill be away racing Grafton (Mountain View) hillclimb this weekend so sadly no head work happening this weekend... more of a mental health weekend racing for me.

I've gotta have a run in the race car every now & then or i really do go mental.
😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍

So... Michael ill be punching in to your head during the nights here this week & will get it down to the machine shop next week.

Cheers all & yeah pretty choofed with these 2x heads & how even the chambers ended-up straight off the batt.

Stay-tuned... more coming from us , including 2x more turbo injected minis.

All done now...

All fl**ges Larger than the exh ports now.

Time to go home for a shower.

& back at it again tomorow.

Excellent weekend off ey?
😍🥰😍🥲😍🥰😋

Im Racing next weekend at Grafton Hillclimb (Mountain View) in the old Turbo-charged race buggy... just for s**ts n giggles,,,

i love that track tho, havnt been for years & havnt run the turbo motor there yet (I think) so it should be fun.

Ill try to sort the in-car video camera for you all... so that should be a much more fun weekend than my usual head grinding weekends ey?

Hee hee
Stay tuned.

Another video continuing with our anti-reversion (grind s**t out if the extractors fl**ges) job.

Like I said in the last video, we want easy free flow out... but a lip/shelf/barrier to help stop it trying to suck back in.

& if you "enlarge" your exh pipe from the outlet of the extractors collector any larger than that exit size, you will slow-down the exhaust gasses in the main pipe which will create back-pressure.

We dont want back-pressure so you'll want to maintain the same size/diam pipe from the collector all the way back.

Same as trying to fit a smaller pipe from the extractors back, you will suffocate the thing too.

Anyways... I'll keep ripping in, its very close to me going home time.
Stay tuned

Extractors fl**ges for Lyndon now.

We dont want big horrible lips blocking the passage of the exh gasses on exit of the ports now do we?

No,,,

in fact we actually want it the other way round so when the gasses try to come back they hit a lip that way,,, but have full open access to get out of the port easy-peasy.

Its commonly called "anti-reversion" because exh gasses are not coming out of the port in one smooth constant push,,, theyre actually pushing then sucking back, pushing then sucking back,,,

very much just like your heart inside you body, push suck push suck etc... so we want a lip , or barrier, to help stop the gasses """coming back""" Into the exh port ok?

So we make the extractors fl**ges (& the gasket) bigger than the exh port.

& here we are kicking off on one fl**ge & this vid is just to show you how big that lip was, it was already blocking the exit previously & left the nice sooty witness mark for me to rip-into
😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰
... & now its the other way round slightly larger than the exh port/gasket.

Yee haa... free movement out,,, & make it hard to come back.
Cheers
Im onto the next 2x fl**ges now.

Oky doky... im pretty-well finished with this head now.

Got it all cleaned up, blended & guide-bosses swooped-up,,, ready for some new guides & 3x angle seats & check the CCs in all the chambers.

It eye-balls & fingers-up real nice now... remember its just an overhaul/reco but I do like making them flow a bit better than stock ,,, & this is now a vast improvement on what it was...

especially as the old valves were soooo sunken into the chamber rooves so now the gasses will start moving way earlier.

Remember the """Sheep thru a gate"" scenario yeah???
😍🥰😍🥰😍🥲😍

Anyways... im onto opening up London's extractors now then I'll shoot home for a shower & wash all this s**t off me.

Yee haa... best weekend ever & back to work again/still tomorow
😍😍😍🥰😍🥰
Cheers & yes again "stay-tuned"

Oky doky... this head is a much much better thing now...

very happy with it...I didnt open it up heaps,,, just a tad around the pockets/seat areas,,, but all those nasty sunken valves & lips will be much better now.

Im yet to punch-out all the guides to address all the guide-bosses but I'll do that after lunch.

I've gotta go get Marlys mum some lunch (& me) & pick up an engine & I'll be back here after all that.

So... happy as a pig in s**t with this thing now... just a reco job with some slight improvements but with all those little improvements on this road engine & the little hot-road camshaft we are fitting will suit these subtle head mods will make for a ripper road donk.

Cheers
Gotta go

Im making shorter videos now, ive learnt that anything over 10mins facepoop won't accept em for some reason so shorter quicker videos from now on.

Thanks for watching... tons & tons of views (literally thousands of views) from yesterday videos. Thanks heaps

Got into this head a fair bit. Its not the nicest thing in the world but it is just a reco job with some improvements.

But those seats & lips are a fair bit worse than I first thought so ive got to lift the chamer rooves some more to get me some seat-meat to play with & get rid of all those ugly lips.

Stay tuned for the next video im about to take now... ive done a bunch more work on it already.

Yee haa... much better.

19/07/2026

Well ive got to go harder into to the rooves of all these chambers.

Those lips in spoke about earlier are way worse than I first thought. So I'll lift the rooves a tad more.

I've de-shrouded (somewhat) but still need to tidy them all up.

Not going to do much to these ports, theyre already pretty good angles & runner lengths so I'll just de-dag em & rough em up. It really is just a reco job but I do like improving them where I can if its easy enough.

So... im onto to it but it is a bit more ugly than I first thought.
Cheers
