Good morning Candelo and surrounds! Do you think our pump's winter pyjamas are channelling "Give me your tired, your poor / your huddled masses yearning to breathe free / the wretched refuse of your teeming shore", or "Next time we meet, the hour will strike for you and your friends"? Like so much in life, it really depends on the angle you choose to take!

If you were listening to ABC Radio South-East yesterday morning at 7.48 you'd have heard Bevan discussing our efforts to keep the diesel flowing (focusing on the obstacles thrown at us by the weather this time, not the geopolitical situation) with Eddie. We haven't had this much celebrity in the family since 1974 when Jemal's brother was picked to hold the flag at school assembly!

Good morning Candelo and Bemboka! Tasha is back from holidays and we have Vegetable Pad Thai, Fried Rice and Panang G*i (Chicken Panang Curry) in time to brighten a rather gloomy-looking winter's day!

Another cold start to the day! If you notice a strange hooded figure lurking around the servo after hours it's not the Grim Reaper hanging about until he can fuel up, it's just an attempt to stop the diesel freezing in the hose. We've had to splash hot water over the pumps to wake them up every morning since the cold snap started (sometimes twice if it cooled and froze the handpiece between customers). The joys of running an old-style kerbside servo that still operates pretty much the way it did when it was set up in 1947!

It's MINUS 3 DEGREES and the Premium 95 pump needed to be revived with hot water this morning before it would work, but the team at Candelo Cafe are (as ever) on fire!

Good morning Candelo! Thank you to all the people donating cans and bottles for the Candelo Primary P&C fundraiser - but we've noticed a lot of general recycling is finding its way into the bins (some examples in the attached pictures). Just a reminder, not all recyclables are equal! You can put any glass, paper, and recyclable plastic and metal in household recycling bins (and if you do, we're confident you will go straight to Heaven when you die), but THESE bins are about raising money for the school, and only the cans and bottles marked "10c Refund at collection depots in participating states" will actually deliver against that objective.

If you take a few moments to stream out any stray pasta sauce jars, liquor bottles and general rubbish, you'll not only get points for saving the planet and the kiddies, you'll be earning the grateful thanks of the servo team - since if you don't do it, we have to!

Hello Candelo and Bemboka! Tasha is taking a break over the holidays so we don't have Thai food this week. There are lots of other reasons to pop in and see us though!
