Trevor’s XD after the timing had been corrected. Much much better!
The thermoquad is also not up to scratch in some regards but since the engine will be coming out and the carby is getting replaced, I will not be pushing on with any further repairs on it.
I just wanted to make sure I knew what I was working with as far as engine running condition and supporting systems operation before I pull it apart.

Trevor’s XD as delivered just didn’t sound right and Trevor himself described what sounded to be poor performance caused by pinging.
Sure enough, I checked the timing and it had 38 degrees initial timing!
Educated ears will be able to hear it

Trevor’s matching numbers 351 FMX 1979 XD Falcon Ute was dropped off today.
Previous posts have detailed some of the parts that I have specified for this build.
Full engine build, torque convertor , run in, tune, air con repairs are on the list for now.
Trevor took my advice and has already had the diff rebuilt and changed from 2.92 to 3.23 gearing while also getting a twin 2.5” exhaust with X pipe fitted.
I’m excited for this one, it will be a really nice little package once it’s sorted.

Fred’s Corvette all done and ready to return home. Quite a bit went into this car but it’s all turned out beautifully and is hopefully going to impress its owner for many many enjoyable miles!
After all the repairs and upgrades I finally got to do a full tune up on it today and it has responded very well.
The carby was running very rich across the board so I corrected that and also set the ignition timing to make it happy.
It’s running and driving beautifully now, a big difference from the way it was running when it was delivered!
It also received the complimentary Ritchie’s Performance clean and detail treatment

Progress on Fred’s Corvette. It is now a running car again after all the repairs/upgrades and many many hours of work.
I made some alterations to the fuel system upgrades I had previously done as I wasn’t happy with some of the fittings.
I deleted the flared fittings and replaced with compression/olive fittings throughout as I wasn’t happy with the sealing ability of the flares with the stainless tube. The stainless is too hard for the flares. Using Aluminium or copper tube the flares are no issue but the stainless is simply too hard to seal against the softer aluminium fittings.
First time for me using stainless tubing with these fittings so I will notch that up to experience. Of course I fixed it all in my own time and at my cost as this is only fair.
The fuel system is now all sorted and leak tight, engine is running and ready for tuning.
