🔧 Not every clutch fails because it's worn out...

This one had a very different problem.

The customer was experiencing an intermittent issue where the clutch would randomly fail to engage, leaving them with no drive. The strange part? It wasn't slipping like a typical worn-out clutch.

After removing the gearbox, the cause became obvious.

One of the damper springs inside the clutch disc had broken apart. These springs are designed to absorb shock between the engine and gearbox, but once this one failed, the broken pieces were free to move around inside the clutch assembly.

Every now and then, those pieces would jam in the wrong place, preventing the clutch from engaging properly. Once they shifted again, everything would seem normal—making it a tricky fault to diagnose.

It's a great example of why proper diagnosis matters. Not every clutch problem is caused by worn friction material, and replacing parts without finding the root cause can waste both time and money.

🔧 One booked repair. One unexpected breakdown. Two faults resolved.

This 2012 Audi Q5 2.0 TDI initially came to us with an EGR system fault. Our testing found an aftermarket EGR valve wasn’t operating to genuine specifications, so the customer booked it in for a genuine replacement.

Before the repair date, the vehicle suffered a separate engine failure and became undriveable.

After replacing the EGR valve, further testing confirmed a second fault had developed. We diagnosed failed injector sealing washers, a failed injector on cylinder 3 and a cracked injector on cylinder 4.

To get this Audi back on the road, we:
✅ Replaced the genuine EGR valve.
✅ Installed two genuine injectors.
✅ Replaced injector seals and washers.
✅ Cleaned the intake system of heavy carbon build-up.
✅ Performed an oil flush and service.
✅ Programmed the new injectors and completed extensive road testing.

The result? Both faults repaired, no engine fault codes present, and the Audi is back to performing as it should.

This is a great example of why accurate diagnosis matters. Sometimes vehicles develop more than one fault, and taking the time to find the root cause ensures the repair is done right the first time. 🚗🔧

🔧 Jeep Cooling System Repair & Upgrade 🔧

This Jeep came into the workshop with a coolant leak caused by a failed water pipe connection.

After diagnosing the issue, we replaced the faulty component and fitted the updated upgraded-design part to improve reliability and get the cooling system back operating as it should.

🚙 80 Series LandCruiser – Chasing Down a Mystery Front-End Noise

Not every noise is as simple as it first appears.

This classic 80 Series LandCruiser came into the workshop with a strange noise coming from the front end. Our initial inspection found a brake caliper issue, with the brake pad and anti-rattle clip having come apart. After repairing that fault, the noise was still there.

Digging deeper into the vehicle’s history, we found previous repairs had been carried out on the swivel hub and stub axle. With the front end stripped down for a thorough inspection, we discovered the real culprit – the brass bush inside the spindle was badly worn and had broken apart, causing ongoing issues.

To ensure a reliable long-term repair, we replaced the CV shaft and fitted a complete swivel hub rebuild kit, restoring everything back to proper working order.

🔧 Sometimes the first fault isn’t the only fault. Taking the time to investigate thoroughly means we can identify the root cause and fix it properly the first time.

If your 4WD is making unusual noises, don’t ignore them. Early diagnosis can prevent more extensive damage and keep you safely on the road and off it.
