As 4x4 drivers, we love a bit of mud, rock and sand… but snow is a whole different beast.
If you’re planning a winter trip, a little prep goes a long way. Conditions can change quickly, tracks can get rutted fast, and “she’ll be right” is not a recovery plan.
Before you head off, make sure your rig is ready with the essentials:
✔️ All terrain tyres
✔️ Rated recovery points
✔️ Winch or recovery gear
✔️ Tyre deflator and air compressor
✔️ UHF radio
✔️ Shovel
✔️ Snow chains where required
✔️ Warm clothes, food and plenty of water
A good rule of thumb? Travel with mates, tell someone where you’re going, keep to the tracks and drop those tyre pressures when needed.
Snow driving can be seriously good fun, but the right set up makes all the difference.
