It all started with the turbos.

The 2JZ-GTE is an absolute legend of an engine, but even legends have parts that don’t live forever. Especially the factory 25 years old turbos, especially when the factory boost has been wound up another 5–6 psi, especially with a manual boost controller without even permanently mounted boost gauge😁

At first, it sounded simple enough:
“Yeah, we’ll just change the turbos.”

But with a 2JZ, that’s how the rabbit hole begins 😄

Because then you start thinking:
If we’re doing turbos, should we add more power?
And if we’re adding more power… how are the rings looking?
Are the bearings still happy?
What condition is the block actually in?

And that’s how we went from “just swap the turbos” to the engine being out, pistons on the bench, everything getting cleaned, and a bare short block staring back at us.

Should be easy, right? Just need some J-B Weld, duct tape and a suspicious amount of WD-40

I work all night, I work all day… just to build this 2JZ the way it deserves.

Every bolt, every detail — obsessed with getting it perfect. And yeah, it’s not cheap…

“Money, Money, Money” might as well be playing on repeat every time I’m working on this engine.
