A big thank you to Jim from Szabo Engineering Consultants for coming in and carrying out the first inspection on this custom HJ Tonner.
Jim has pointed us in the right direction to get this ute back on the road
This ute has a pretty unique history — originally built as an old show car before being turned into a drag car. The new owner wants to keep it as close to its roots as possible
The work will include:
Strengthening the full fibreglass front to road-use specifications
Strengthening seat belt mounting points and remaking the inner pillars
Strengthening the su***de doors
Relocating the door poppers to a safer position inside the vehicle
A general tidy-up and re-routing of fuel and brake lines where required
Customising the seat plates to achieve a lower seating position
Tidying up the channelled body floor
Completing all required steel and chassis work
We’re more than happy to help with engineering requirements and coordinate the work needed to get a project like this over the line.
The ute will now be sent around to the relevant specialists for mechanical work, fibreglass repairs and electrical/wiring, while we handle all the steel fabrication and chassis work in-house.
It’s a great old build with plenty of history, and we’re looking forward to helping bring it back to the streets while keeping as much of its original character as possible.
