Happy Sunday folks!
Giving a fundraiser we are running a plug raising money for sick and disadvantaged kids. Variety helped us at times when our daughter was fighting cancer - so just doing our bit to give back 🏁😊

As promised - pictures of the entrance we finished today. A fair bit of work and tho king went into this entrance as there was plenty of different angles with the angle of the property with a different angle for the driveway and 2 different fences we had to tie in with the entrance posts on the right hand wing. All in all a very good job which has transformed the looks of this beautiful property nestled in the bush. Happy Friday 😀

Nice post and rail project on the go at the moment. 60 odd meters done today, and hook into the entrance tomorrow. You won’t find a straighter fence - she’s dead eye dick 🎯

If the boss wasn’t such a prick I would have had the day off today like many others but he decided days like today must be taken advantage of 🌞. So a little redress job at the Gordon St reserve with 24 tonne blue metal shaped, watered and rolled in a couple of areas requiring some love, then 4 loads of clay dumped at a farm for each cattle trough ready to spread later in the week, followed by carting a machine to Fulham - all on my own while the worker enjoyed his long weekend. Some days i think it would be great working for someone - but most of the time not 🤭.

Big 12 hour day today - early run into Matthews Quarries in the little 359, carted 24 tonne of 20mm class 3 to a job out the back of Glenmaggie.

No way of getting the tippers into this unique property so got the GMC out of hibernation with the little tipper trailer, dumped the material at the end of the driveway, loaded it with the little 1.7t and carted it all up the rutted out bush track so our client could spread it with his dozer. Track was super steep, first time the GMC has been in low range 4x4 (🤣)

Over 10 trips - took most of the day and a grave dig and fill squeezed in at Heyfield cemetery.

Big day, but we do it cos we love it 😅.

A bit more fencing today taking advantage of the wet ground and the Thor auto rammer on the posi. We have only ever used this rammer with steel posts, and can’t believe how quick it is to ram timber posts while the ground is wet .

A little driveway entrance repair job done. There was a good 100 - 125mm drop from the road down to the driveway posing a problem when exiting the driveway straight onto the 100kph zone with a sharp bitumen edge.

We ripped it, carted in a load of 20mm class 3 blue metal, spread, shaped, watered and rolled it in giving it a much smother entry and exit into the property 😊

After posting the latest pic of my truck yesterday a comment was made on how far she has come in the 6 years I’ve owned it. It got a lot of interest from that post so got me thinking and wanted to post some info about the old girl for those interested.

I got this 89 transtar from a wreckers in Morwell over 6 years ago. It come down from Sydney retired from a demolition company. It was there to be cut in half and wreck out. The owner of the wreckers said if someone come in wanting the engine (Cummins 400hp big cam) or the 18 speed gearbox it was getting cut in half with the blow torch.

Although she looked very tired and needed much love at this point I just couldn’t let another iconic Australian truck be cut up into pieces with the gas torch so I saved her.

In over 6 years it’s been a fantastic truck, with only a few little issues which have never stopped me from getting home at night.

Gearbox was rebuilt by a couple of years ago, new compressor head gasket, servicing when required and that’all I’v done to her.

The old 4.2m aluminium tipper body was replaced by the boys at Macedon Ranges Welding a couple of years ago with a 4.5m hardox steel body 300mm lower and 300mm longer to make grave digging easier loading in a confined space.

I’ve changed a heap of stuff on it over the years to put my character into her and here it is today 😍.

She’s done a heap of work in this time and carted thousands of tonnes of quarry materials, Timber, sawdust, cow s**t, rubbish and even furniture, machines and more! One of those trucks that really does have a personality of its own and if it could talk it’d have a lot to say.
