The Davison Ford Summer Street Series kicked off Friday night with Rd 1 being a new attendance record for the series. Almost 70 racers turned up on what started off as a great evening with the staging lanes packed from the get go, until a light sprinkle blew in half way through proceedings.
There was plenty of action on track with a lot of series regulars fronting for the first event, including a bunch of bikes who looked to be having a ball getting lots of runs in before the interruption. We hung around waiting for the rain to stop, as it would have been a quick clean up to get going again.
Unfortunately, the last 10 min of the rain was a little heavier which would have dragged out the clean up. By that time, most of the punters had packed up or left so we called the night off and started to pack up. Big thanks to everyone who came out to the first one, it bodes well for the rest of the series once the weather warms up a bit.
Our next round is on November 20th and will be run from 7pm to 11 pm, we hope to see you then.
The Cunzy Carnival Drag and Drive was also on this weekend which helped to bolster Fridayβs entries, with them using the street meet to do a bit of testing to kick their weekend off. Saturday saw them cruising around the district with some observation run shenanigans, culminating with a feed and car show at Nitro CafΓ©.
Sunday morning started with some more testing, followed by 4 qualifying rounds before a Chicago Shootout to determine the finalists. Finals were run and then a special knockout race to find the βRingmasterβ. It was a great weekend and a credit to Jason and Jules, who were organizing their first ever event. Head over to the Cunzy Carnival page for all of the results.
Friday the 30th of October sees the Street Machine Dag Challenge pass through town on their 5 day journey with racing from early afternoon to late evening. Come out and enjoy an awesome event with the Hill Bar open and plenty of comfy grass to sit on, it is the best place to take in all of the action.
See you all soon.
