What a magnificent winter morning for a ride and catch up with you’re motorbike freind for coffee and breakfast. Mine was the only classic bike out and about this morning where we meet up in Strathalbyn South Australia. They certainly like the cool morning air that is nice and dense. This Commando performs really well, it has Megacycle cams, Trispark Classic twin ignition and a CNW belt drive along with a 23 tooth sprocket. The tall gearing and rear sets along with low bars makes it comfortable at the higher speeds.

Quick Sunday morning job we thought. Fit new fork stanchions to a BSA Rocket 3. First one was straight forward and took about an hour. The second one took a lot longer as the chrome seal holder was seized to the fork leg. Heat was applied with the heat gun, then Oxy/Acet still wouldn’t budge. Had to revert to some good old butchery and use a cutting disc to free it up. Had a good used seal holder to replace the wrecked on.

This Norton 750 Commando engine was recently rebuilt. Makes you wonder to what standard when you look at the movement between the valve stem and valve guide bore !

Lovely Autumn morning for a ride here in South Australia. It was forecast rain but that didn’t eventuate. Nice to see good oil pressure at idle, about 42 PSI at idle.

Just picked up the second set of painting from the painter and another top class job. Notice where the chrome on the petrol tank meets the paint, it is different on both tanks. I have looked at quite a few Rocket 3 Mk2 tanks and there seems to be a variation in this on all tanks. Has anyone got an original tank to check how this should be.
