FYI for Caravan & Trailer Owners

During a recent caravan mechanical service, we found that the new tyres fitted were not correctly rated for the caravan.

The tyres fitted were rated to 900 kg, however this caravan requires tyres rated to 1,320 kg. While the tyres were new, they were not suitable for the load and could have led to serious issues if left unchecked.
Luckily the customer could return the new tyres and have the appropriate ones fitted before their trip.

This is a good reminder that it’s not just about tread depth - load rating matters, especially when towing.

Before heading off on your next trip, it’s worth having your caravan or trailer serviced and inspected to ensure:

Tyres are correctly load-rated

Bearings and brakes are safe

Lights and suspension are operating correctly

I’ll add a few photos below to show exactly what we found.

We’ve just realised we’ve officially passed our one-year anniversary — and the reason is a good one… we’ve been absolutely flat out.

A Lucky Catch on a Mazda SP23 Today

I was called out to a Mazda SP23 that had a strong fuel smell, and the cause was far more serious than expected.
The fuel pump module had failed, causing fuel to spray out under pressure - a situation that could have ended very badly if left unchecked.

The damaged module was replaced, all lines were inspected, and the system was tested to ensure everything was safe and leak-free again.

If you ever notice a fuel smell, poor starting, or visible fuel around the tank area, don’t ignore it - these faults can turn dangerous quickly.
