This 2022 BMW iX was well kept.

But well kept does not mean perfect.

There were scrapes under the front bumper, small chips, gravel rash and wear on the gloss black trims.

The customer chose not to go full paint correction because it is going to be used as a family car.

Fair enough too.

If it is likely to get regular quick washes, light swirls will probably happen again anyway.

So we focused on protection where it mattered most.

PPF went on:

Front bumper.
Gloss black trims.
Rocker panels.
Rear bumper and bumper deck.
Headlights.
Mirrors.

The rest received two layers of OPTiX FMJ Graphene coating.

Some damaged rough areas needed trimming because PPF needs proper surface contact to stay down properly.

Film does not magically stick to gouges.

This was not about chasing perfection.

It was about sensible protection for how the car will actually be used.

Steve’s Commodore is about 17 years old now.

But this is what happens when an owner keeps improving a car instead of just letting it get old.

The latest stage was custom interior work by Lorenzo Poli Motor Trimmer, who is right next door to AutoFX WA and OPTiX Nano in the same O’Connor complex.

The car now has that luxury Italian leather and Alcantara feel inside, but it still feels like a proper driver’s car.

Real instrument display.
Modern Apple CarPlay / Android Auto.
Touch screen climate control.
Still very much a Commodore.

After Lorenzo finished the interior, the car came straight next door to us for paint correction and wax.

We have also previously installed PPF to the bonnet, front bumper, roof and boot.

That is what I like about this car.

It is not trying to be brand new.

It is Steve’s pride and joy, and he keeps improving it properly.

Good work by Lorenzo next door, and credit to Steve for keeping the car alive the right way.

Steve’s VE SS is his pride and joy.

He has washed it at least once a week for the last 8 years.

He also books it in around every 6 months for correction and wax.

That is why the car stays close to perfect all year.

No obvious water marks.

No heavy swirls.

No major scratching.

Because Steve is careful.

And this is the point most people miss:

Cleaning is usually the main cause of scratches and swirls.

It is not about the highest level of cleaning.

It is about the highest level of care.

Steve also likes Crystal Rock as an upgrade, which gives the paint that warm wax finish he enjoys.

Old-fashioned proper maintenance still works.

🇦🇺 2016 HSV VF GTS in for some polishing work. This supercharged vehicle is a daily driver with over 200,000 kilometres and does not get the 24/7 garage comfort. It has accumulated quite a lot of swirls over the years and was due for its first correction.

The result was a swirl-free paint job, >95% of the scratches removed, more gloss and deeper colour. Our polishing work was able to rejuvenate the aging paint work and make a special car look good again.

This Jaguar XKR came back to us around 9 years after we originally coated it with OPTiX OP888.

Simon is now getting it ready for sale.

So we carried out a $1200 paint correction and wax.

Not a silly over-the-top job.

Just the right level of correction to bring back clarity, gloss and presentation before the car goes to its next owner.

Paint correction works by refining the clear coat surface itself.

That is where the sharper reflections and cleaner shine come from.

Then wax adds short-term protection and warmth to the finish.

Good maintenance and previous protection make a difference.

A car that has been looked after is always easier to bring back than one that has been neglected.

Nissan 350Z – Knowing When to Stop Matters

This Nissan 180SX guard roll came up really well overall.

But one section told a different story.

A dent appeared where there had been previous repair work.

And this is the part people need to understand:

It is not always the bog that is the issue.

It is the damage underneath.

If the panel was never repaired properly, the tension in that area is not the same as factory metal.

Normally, some small guard rolling dents can be encouraged back with the right tap.

This one would not move.

Dent Craft later confirmed there was repair and filler in that area.

That is why guard rolling always needs realistic expectations, especially on older models
