VX SS ls1 in for some upgrades.
Super clean example and very low ks.

The LS1 is completely stock apart from twin 2.5" cat back and 3.7 gears.

Baseline dyno was 200rwkw back to back which is not bad and our starting point.

Next i removed the complete exhaust system.
Radiator, header tank and hoses.
Trans lines.

Now with the mods we wanted to clean up the bay and also think about future upgrades.

A pwr cooler was fitted to modified factory cooler brackets.
Painted black.
Speedflow 200 series hose and fittings.
Heat protective wrap to keep the heat away from the hoses.
Also makes it alot easier to remove lines if the trans has to come out down the track.

Next was a full manta stainless twin 3" exhaust with hi flow cats and ceramic coated 4 into 1s.
These systems look great and sound great.

Next up since the factory radiator and fans were gone i installed a vz ls1 radiator conversion which both radiator and fan shroud with twin spal fans was powder coated black.
A big reason to go this way is to really clean up the bay as it looks great and its something i do with turbo setups as well.
New hoses were fitted and did the coolant hose bypass mod on the throttle body as no one wants hot coolant going through it.
There was also some custom wiring for the fans and a bypass mod so the warning light for overflow bottle doesn't show on the dash.

Next fitted
NGK TR6 plus ✅️
Granatelli hi performance leads✅️
Fuel filter ✅️
Vz Duspeeed otr ✅️
DBA T2 slotted rotors ✅️
DBA Street series brake pads✅️

Next on the dyno.
Ended up with 243rwkw a 43kw gain which is a good gain.
The car was also tuned for driveabilty and throttle response and tuned at varying loads and speeds on the dyno and then tweaked on the road and also tuned the trans.
The result is a car that drives great and gets up and goes and sounds great.

VX calais on the dyno at night.
Done this over 2 weekends with some help.
The engine has now been in 3 different cars as both had an unfortunate end.
This engine made 184rwkw on 98 quite a while back with a boost issue which was later sorted but never went back on the dyno we just verified that the tune was good. Estimate would have been around 190-200 rwkw.

Basicly this engine was dropped in and i had to put box in, trans lines and finish the w2a install and a few things as well
as a walbro 255 fuel pump upgrade.
Fill with e85
Also new fluids and filters
New battery

Then dyno time.

Engine mods

Mace stage 2 cam kit with crow retainers.
Cam specs 213/226 116 lsa
Yella terra w2a ( the 25mm plate).
60lb injectors.
3" pulley 6 rib
Walbro 255 fuel pump
E85

Twin 2.5" black ops exhaust
X force headers, hi flow cats

Stock 4l60e

Stock dff gears

Great result switch to e85 picked up a bunch of hp at 239 rwkw @ 12psi.
Ready to hit the burnout pad!

VR clubsport came in for some much needed attention.
It came in on a trailer and it ran but was missfiring and really lacked any power.
The car had been sitting for some time at one point. The owner got it running and they did clean the tank out and put a new pump in.
Problem is the filter hadnt been changed and was completely shot. What was left of the filter inside was rattling around so basicly not filtering anything.
1 fuel injector was dead so i replaced it and it ran on all 8cyl but stillnot good. So pulled all the injectors out and they had lots of build up and corrosion.
I did try to get them cleaned but they failed the leakdown test.
So another set sorced 1 short and 2 were odd so i matched the rest and got them all cleane, tested with new filters and o rings.
Injectors in and new set of plugs.
Also fixed a few hoses and some wiring.
Checked over everything and checked timing etc.
The owner request a cat back system so i ordered a manta 3" with no resonator.
It looks 100% better than the rusted out original system which was also cut at the muffler and sounds great on these 304s.
Test drive went well and the owner was able to drive home and can now go cruising again.

Yesterdays job vy v6 shop ute long awaited exhaust upgrade.
Had some small extractors and really crappy exhaust on it.
Hit the crossmember every bump and very droney too.

The exhaust is being upgraded now as this will be getting an L67 that im going to build and will also converting to manual.

The headers are pacemaker 1-3/4" 3 into 1s. Really nice looking headers.
Header gaskets are mls steel gaskets.
Hi flow cat pipes.
Twin 2.5" exhaust i picked up for a good price.

These systems are a really good upgrade for any L67.
We can supply and fit and use a manta 2.5" catback in either alu steel or stainless.

These are very good quality systems and sound great and look the part too.
Pics are from a ve ss and today vr 304 clubsport cat back and have a full system for a vs 304 clubsport and a vr 304 with catback and hi flow cat back as this one has pacemaker headers already.

VR clubsport on the dyno this week.
Came in not running and had a few issues to sought through.
1st was clean the plugs as they werent good just to try get it running.
Next was scan and diagnosis.
Found why its was runing so rich.
Dead coolant temp sensor.
Changed it out and checked it was reading correctly.
Next got it running and verified timing.
Injectors were also suspect as it just wasnt 100% so they were removed and sure enough bit of crap in the filters.
Had the injectors ultrasonic cleaned
and had new filters and orings installled.
While those were getting done i soughted the fuel sender.
It had been clocked wrong so didnt read correctly.
Also found kinked return hose and wrong size 3/8 hose on 5/16 fitting.
So replaced with proper 5/16 efi hose and clamps.
Fixed the pump install.
Fixed cluster sender. Fitted new sender and fixed the plug as it was super loose.
Next fixed the lights in the cluster which turned out to be a couple fuses.
Reco injectors back in.
New set of ngk plugs and began tuning.
Ended up getting the car to behave and ended up with 193rwkw.

Flat tops
230@50 ish cam
Std injectors
4l60e , stall converter i think 3000 rpm
3.08 gears.
Has a twin 2.5 into single 3" system
Twin hi flow cats a pacemaker headers.
Really good result with 304ci and stock manifold.

Tuned with the factory delco ecu.

Had this neat vy commodore in for some upgrades.
So i did a cam package and some upgrades a while back.
We made 194rwkw on pump 98 no intercooler very hot day too.

Plan was to do a couple upgrades and switch to e85.

1st thing that needed attention was the yella terra supercharger snout.
It sounded like a bucket of bolts so it was rebuilt and found drive pins loose and holes worn so that was fixed and tig welded and will never have that issue again.
So now the sc is way quieter.
Next was fuel pump.
Still had the stock L67 pump so we upgraded to a walbro 460.

Since it had an 8 rib balancer already we upgraded to an 8 rib setup and 67mm pulley.

Result was 237.9 rwkw.
At this power and boost its tapped out and to go any further we will need a w2a intercooler setup and further lim porting, sc porting larger elbow,larger tb and bigger intake.
I think a manual conversion may be on the cards too.
For now a 44rwkw gain from e85 and a pulley change is very good for such minor mods and it drives great and still shifts gears as it should.
All tuned with the delco ecu and maf on our mainline pro hub dyno.

Very tidy vy L67 in for a tune.
Stock L67
Only mods were mace cai
3.4" pulley
Boost solenoid bypass mod.
2.5 catback - still stock headers
4l60e
Std diff gears.
Made 169.6 rwkw round up to 170.
Car goes really well.
Great gains and more to be had with extractors and hi flow cats and further mods.
Tuned with the factory delco ecu and maf.

Been a minute since i posted anything.
I have been flat out lately with a few projects.
Today one them was finshed up and the results were very good.
Its a built 355
Yella terra whipple 2400
T5 manual and 3.9 gears.
This car was built elsewhere and tuned but the results weren't great and it was barely driveable.
Plugs fouling up etc.
It was actually that bad i aborted the idea of doing a pre power run.
It was tuned with the delco ecu.

Game plan was to fix some of the issues and the more i dug the more i found.

So 1st game plan was to try the new haltech nexus gm plug in ecu and install yella terra w2a intercooler kit.
With the gm nexus installed and new set of plugs i got it running ok.
Next issue it was only getting 75% throttle and the throttle bracket was flexing.
It also only had a china 84mm tb and then went 4" to 3.5" why i got nfi.
I had the elbow tb holes welded up re drilled and tapped to suit a motion raceworks 92 mm throttle body and port match to the elbow.
I also fixed the throttle cable setup which now comes in from behind the elbow and has proper geometry and a proper bracket to get 100% throttle.
Next was the intercooler kit install.
Fuel system was also upgraded.
Golebys Surge tank with a walbro 525 , dash 8 feed dash 6 return.
Heavy duty wiring and relay to supply proper voltage to the walbro 525 pump.
Turbosmart fuel reg.
Modded factory rails.
60lb or 660cc injectors
Lines from bay down heat wrapped.
The exhaust also heat wrapped to keep heat away from fuel lines and heat coming thru the floor.
Smalley pulley/belt
Custom 4" intake pipe and modded mace airbox.
Clutch was checked out and was stock and not up to the task.
A new custom clutch from western clutch in st marys ordered.
Its still an organic plate but larger at 10.5" with yella terra steel flywheel and arp bolts.
Another issue that arised was high coolant temps so we upgraded the fan to an aeroflow brushless fan and its rated at 3400cfm.
It does a really good job at bringing down the temps too.
Soft start feature is great and you dont get a sudden current draw like other fans.

If you are thinking of going a haltech my advise is do it, well worth the $$$$.
These new nexus ecu's work really well and have alot of features.
The idle control works way better than previous gm sport too.
We had a goal of 500rwhp on 98 and we
got there only just 3 hp short at 497 but im calling it 500.
Boost average is 10psi tapering up to 1.5 psi then peaks around 13 psi.
On the road it drives really well and only needs a squeeze of the throttle and it just blazes tyres.
I'd say mission accomplished.
It did snow ball a bit but was worth the end.
