After a lot of thought and family discussions, the time has come for us to move on from the Redlands. My family and I have decided to head west and slow things down a bit, away from the hustle and bustle.
This wasn’t an easy decision because the Redlands community has played a massive part in growing Mick’s Mobile Mechanical into what it is today. I truly can’t thank you all enough for the trust, support, recommendations, and loyalty over the years. It means more to me than you know.
I’ll still be taking bookings in the Redlands up until the 13th of March, so if your vehicle is due for a service or needs any work done before then, please get in touch.
The good news is — I’m not disappearing completely! I’ll be coming back to the Redlands once a month (depending on bookings). If you’d like me to continue servicing your vehicle, please try to give me a few weeks’ notice so I can organise the schedule and make sure I fit everyone in properly.
Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for supporting a local small business. It’s been an incredible chapter, and now we’re on to the next exciting one.

If you go to a "reputable franchise mechanic shop" your would expect your car would be in good hands,
Clearly not the case with this mornings customers Volkswagen golf.
Always serviced in time and never told anything was wrong
Hmmm I beg to differ

Kmart, Bridgestone, my car whatever job thinks it's OK to steal people's hard earned money and ruin their cars, pull your head in.

There is clearly more names to mention but im sure you guys have already seen the light from the dodgy mechanics in the industrial estate. If not get I quick for a check over to make sure your car is actually in a safe condition and maintained correctly

🚨 Important message for our local community 🚨

Over the past few weeks, I’ve had an influx of new customers coming to me after having maintenance carried out elsewhere — and what I’m finding is honestly concerning.
Multiple vehicles have been charged for parts that have clearly NOT been replaced and labour that hasn’t been carried out.
Part numbers don’t match invoices, factory parts are still fitted, and the original issues haven’t been rectified at all.
This isn’t just about hard-earned money being wasted — it’s about unsafe practices that can put people and families at serious risk on the road.
I won’t name names, but local workshops need to be on notice. This sort of behaviour is unacceptable and dangerous.
👉 If you’re ever unsure about work that’s been done on your vehicle, get a second opinion.
👉 Ask for part numbers, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to have things checked.
At Mick’s Mobile Mechanical, transparency and safety come first. If I say a part’s been replaced — it has. If work’s been charged — it’s been done.

This little beast had a major attitude problem, aka a no start issue. I got a phone call from the customer and walked them through all the super simple steps they could do at home to try and self diagnose, because who doesn't love saving some cash? Long story short, it was a failed starter motor that brought this little VW to a grinding halt. And the cherry on top? Only half of the engine bay needs to be removed to fix this bad boy.

Let's talk about transmission service intervals,

So many different manufacturers reccomend 100,000kms for transmission others say never in their life.
No fluid will last the life of a vehicle guys,
Especially in the heat we have here in sunny QLD. Excessive towing, long trips, extra load/weight, it all adds up to extra wear on your engine and drive line and the poor little magnet in the bottom of your pan ends up looking like this one.

I reccomend to at least inspect your automatic fluid at service intervals which mind you should be done at 10,000kms or 6 months whichever comes first. Because if the fluid is looking old, dark, brown and dirty chances are the filter will be clogged and you will encounter issues in the future. Bright red is what we are looking for if you want to check the colour yourself 👍

Remember as always preventative maintenance is key to a long and happy relationship between you and your vehicle
